What are you proposing to do. Are you planning to avail a Transfer of Residence (TR). Apart from that there is no way you can legally take a used car to India. That too you should have owned the car for two years prior to shipment.

Siliver, RO 3,900 is closer to INR 4,50,000.00 plus 120% Customs = INR 9,90,000.00 for a 1989 vehicle. To top its a LHD vehicle so factor in Conversion costs etc as well. Also I don't know how the 15 year rule will apply on this as well

On the whole bad idea I would say!

Best Regards & Drive/Ride safe

Sreejesh, Thanks for your thoughts But I disagree. They are not just lots of metal pipes bro. Its an external roll cage which is a absolute must for offroading vehicle. Even more important for any Landrover since they have Aluminium body.

The Roof rack is optional which is a bolt on accessory which one need only if he wants to carry additional luggage or recovery and camping equipments. But even the roof rack acts a protection and supports the rollcage or add on to the safety of the vehicle in case of a rollover.

Regarding Lights, if you come with me through the terrains we go in the night, you sill say Shibu put as much as lights around the vehicle. .

Try to see the Camel Trophy videos, if you get a chance, and you will know what I am talking about.

See pics below of the External roll cage without the Roof Rack

See what happens to a Defender if you roll and do not have a Rollcage

shivshanker, dont really know why you posted it here. There are 100's of Defenders for sale outside India. But importing it is almost impossible unless someone have that much moolah to spare.
Just fyi I have got my Defender in India not outside India.

  • Faulty rear door fixed
  • Faulty Electricals fixed
  • Faulty LH front hub lock replaced
  • Oil filter replaced

Looking forward to driving your baby to Nagpur.
I am looking for a partner for the delhi-nagpur leg and ideas about the best route, best resting points and friends with telephone numbers on the way to fall back upon in case of problems during the drive. See this thread http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...ml#post2047306
Shibu, it would be most ideal if we were to find an interested jeep owner to escort the Defender to Nagpur .

regards,
Dr. A Ghosh
