Update:

Got some time to click some pictures.
When the vehicle was seen from the front, the left (passengers) side seemed to be slightly tilted. On inspection the mechanic found out that the distance between the fender and the tyre was not even one inch.

Bought A GYPSY KING-before.jpg

He advised to to recamber the front leaves and add an extra leaf (just an advice). After the cambering the extra leaf the distance between the fender and tyre was more than 4.5".

Pics after the cambering :

Pretty satisfied

Used to sit for hours in the garage, so instead of getting bugged I tried a simple DIY. Changed the instrument clusters bulb.

Got philips 4000K Blue Vision bulbs, removed the instrument cluster, removed the steering and steering rod and changed the normal bulbs to the Philips

Hi Akaash,

The pictures for the stock lights and the Philips blue vision are not very clear. Th only difference that I can make out is that the Philips light is a liitle brighter. What is the difference between the two? How much did the Philips bulb cost?

Regards,

To be frank, even I dint . It was just brighter than the originals. The only reason I changed it cos It took more than an hour to remove the cluster, steering etc and double the time to put it back on. I know

How is the ride quality now, with the extra leaf?

Cheers,
Deepak

I did not feel any difference as such. Gypsy is always bumpy especially on the rear. Will shift to CFL in the rear soon.

Was fiddling around with 4WD thing (it is something new to me). Two things I noticed.

1. Sometimes the lever easily shifts to 2wd. But sometimes It never shifts. Shifting from 4L to N to 4H is smooth. Tried reversing and engaged to 2wd and finally it shifted back.

Is this something normal in gypsy or am I supposed to get it checked ?

This is normal. You need not worry.

To the best of my undertsanding when shifting from 4WD to 2WD, sometimes you have to move the vehicle a little front or back to lock the drives in 2WD position. Gurus can explain it much better though

It used to happen in my Gypsy too. So as Ardy said nothing to worry about. What normally I used to do is
  • Shift from 4L to N to 4H or vice-versa only when the vehicle is complete stationary
  • from 4H to 2H or vice versa fist try when the vehicle is stationary and if it doesn't sloth easily then do it slightly when the vehicle is in motion. like speeds of 5 kmph or so

Yes, this is exactly how I am doing to get it to 2H. Just wanted to be sure that im not screwing up any machanicals by doing this.

BTW, is there any solution or fix to get this to normal ?

Please share the current price for the same. Coz I heard tyres are really getting expensive these days. Also I may be in need of a set soon.

I paid 6500 + 150 rs for tyre and shipping. As these are not imported any more, expect it be be sold in higher margin.

Hey Akaash,

Can you share some daytime pics. Just curios on how it looks as the profile pic looks damn good. Are you running white lights on your headlamps or is it just the pics. If yes, which ones are they. The hellas are also looking like they are giving a white light.

Cheers,
Raj
