Same color. Matt finish. Black windshield frame. Even I loved the current raw tough look. but the problem is rust had begun to set in. the windshield frame was getting worse with lots of paints chipping out.

Didn't want to let it die a slow death.

Jaggu - You have seen the headlamp dome of my jeep right? I guess it needs to be changed. Ambassador one's will do? or should I go for new one's on ebay?

Plenty of options available for 150-200 bucks in india. Pick and choose the design you like and that will look good on the jeep.

Hi Shub,

If I may, I'd say think again before going for matt finish. It is surely a dirt magnet as I have come to know in my Jeep. Every little mud and grease stain sticks to it and cleaning is a lot more effort than just wipe and rub. (more so because of my light shade). Even the ubiquitous grease handprints of mechs are a pain to remove. I use a small soft brush.

Re: I found The Hulk - WILLYS CJ3B

Use a mat clear to cover the paint and the grease issue will be solved.

Re: I found The Hulk - WILLYS CJ3B

I already have matt clear applied. But, it is of no use, makes the surface even rougher. But, I think in darker shades it might not be a big issue.

How do you wash the vehicle? With car shampoo or plane water?

Re: I found The Hulk - WILLYS CJ3B

Have tried with car shampoo, human shampoo, plain water...but traces of the grease or such dark stain still remain which I remove gently by using a small brush. But, its a tedious job.

I guess the roughness is to be blamed, generally the clear should avoid absorbing these stubborn stains and as you said the light shade will compound the issue.

I think my green is a bit on the darker side and I am not into offroading (yet) so I guess I should be ok with the matt finish. Will also tell the painter about "matt clear" - I hope he doesn't ask what is it.

Tell me more about the soft brush technique?

Well, let me share the secret of the soft brush "technique".
Actually, it is a secret style of washing your chariots in the mahabharata days, perfected by me that now you will also know. It is nothing but taking some water mixed with car shampoo in a small bucket , stirring it, then dipping a soft grade toothbrush in the shampoo water and brushing the stain like you would brush your teeth. And then, voila! you have your spanking clean chariot ready for the next Kurukshetra.
Whoomph...tough job isn't it? Hey, just kidding!!!

Thats too tough a routine! Will hire someone to do thiat! Lol.

Update - Base coat on the body done - some strange shade of green - i almost threw up. But he said - its only a base coat, there will another round of putty and then the actual shade.

Careless painter - while removing the parking lens - which I had procured after a great deal of search (they are glass one's not the plastic one's) - is broken!

Getting seat covers changed as well - Art leather. One shade darker beige than what was already on.

Windshield frame being painted black. Chassis - Black.

D hooks and Pintle hook - Red.

WILLYS logos - Red.
Front cast iron tow hooks - Red.
Grease cups - Red

Re: I found The Hulk - WILLYS CJ3B

Mods - Sorry for the back-2-back post.

Just wanted to know what is the best way to have the under-chassis cleaned of dirt/grime?

He was saying there are guys to clean up the under-body - by spraying diesel, allowing it to soak, then spray wash, then use a metal brush to scrub the remaining grime.

I have also heard of some caustic soda treatment - can someone elaborate on this as well?
