Hi Shubz,

IMHO, that is the most appealing colour ive seen for a JEEP ! It looks great!
Thanks Sriny! It was quite an effort at getting this shade. The painter was very casual initially saying "saar idu milltree greenu" and I had to be physically present to make him put his "milltree green" v/s "my shade" and finally got the combination right!

Re: I found The Hulk - WILLYS CJ3B

Opening this up after a year and 3 months!

1. Can anyone help me with a pic of dashboard of a 1965 CJ3B?

Is this the one for me? --> http://www.ebay.com/itm/17205-02-Omix-ADA-Speedometer-Assembly-0-140-KPH-JEEP-CJ5-CJ6-CJ7-CJ3B-55-79-/400326327041?signal=want_b8bf100a-c42d-3da2-9e0a-7c335c503e60:84154ea0-a1ce-11e2-87fa-0050568f04c7_0#sp_cr

2. Most websites say CJ3B's were made till 1964 and then it was all CJ5 (am I looking wrong?)

Re: I found The Hulk - WILLYS CJ3B

Rekindling this thread after 1 year and 5 months!

Had given my beloved Hulk for a regular maintenance stuff. Brakes, engine tuning etc.

My battery seems to have given away. My mechanic called this morning and said, 2 cells have died.

So I need suggestions on what battery ( brand, ratings etc) to go for. Any help would be appreciated!

+1. Use tractor battery only for offorading Jeeps

Amaron Harvest or Exide Everest will be my recommendation in that order only.

cheers

Amaron HiWay 65 Amps will solve your purpose. All our Jeeps/Bullets have Amaron batteries. Its sealed pack, no maintenance battery.
Should cost you around 5000 including exchange price of your old battery.

Forgot to add one more pointer - Its 24 months + 24 months battery (22 months free replacement + 24 months pro rata basis replacement)
For hurricane engine its good. and even if you dont use your jeep for a month, it will have sufficient juice to start engine.

This is a good point! My battery was new and put in sometime in 2012. And two cells have died! Jeep is used but not that frequently. Got to check if I still am covered under any warranty!

I have Amaron Harvest. Works like a charm. I use it for offroading
But since Shubhendra SIR is a jeep legend, you should go with his recommendation.

Soumya SIR,
Harvest is overkill for Hurricane, and nowdays you get HiWay and Harvest with marginal price difference (100 rs). In last 2-3 weeks i have changed batteries for XDP engine and XD3P engine vehicles, thats why suggesting.
No one can take your place SIR

I love it when when two legends acknowledge each other. They are so down to earth and calls each other SIR so sweetly! I think you both should start having a prefix like Willys Raja or Willys Captain.. something like that

BTW We also have the tractor battery in our Willys and 540. They are suitable to Jeeps at any time.

@Shubz

I would recommend Amaron any day . I have used HCV620D31R for jeep/tractor/genset until recently I upgraded to this battery Amaron 105D31R with 784 CCA its an excellent battery for Jeeps but the cost is on the higher side.

Chengappa.

Thanks Chengappa. I jump started the Jeep and got it home today. The battery mechanic has my battery. He was saying "It shouldn't have gone bad, let me check" I have asked him to keep an Amaron ready, but he was trying to upsell Exide instead. I will wait for his analysis on the battery and will opt for an Amaron Hiway 65 Ah one. He quoted 5100/- Will negotiate.

thank you all for your timely suggestion!

I just got the brake cylinders changed. brakes were almost non existent, the cylinders were jammed. now its much smoother. Mech said he has used bigger (dia) pads on the front as well. The pads are yet to bed/set in.

But -- I don't know what he did to the clutch - its kind of jamming (half clutch) post engaging the gear. May be the clutch release spring?
