2 Old Gypsies Which one to buy

Please guide me in buying a gypsy.I have two options both in Auction. One is 1995 model and other is 2000 model. Now i am confused which one to buy.I am not a serious off roader but will love to try it.So which one should i go for. In 1995 model i can spend less intial amount and from the save money i can go for modificiations but on 2000 model the mods will go slow because of cash crunch. guide me ..

Hi Bikham,

Welcome to Team BHP. You should go for the 2000 model as thats an MPFI model with around 80BHP, brake boosters. The 95 one will have the 1000cc engine with around 45BHP.

Now it also depends on what modifications you want to get done. List your planned modifications and everyone here will try and help you out.

Cheers,
Raj

Hi bikham, i think the obvious choice should be the 2000 model. It may cost more initially but over the long run it will be much easier to maintain. And what auction are you talking about? private, govt or army?

As Desmosedici pointed out, (if u have gotten yourself a MPFI engine) u will get a higher HP engine which always comes in handy whether u are off road or on the highway. And also the brake Boosters are a real real boon in the new gypsy.

Even if u got the MG413w carb version it still produces 20+ HP more than the MG410W. There is wide belief that the 1.0 l engine was just to underpowered for the gypsy and hence the 1.3 king was introduced by maruti.

Can you confirm if the Model 2000 gypsy u have got in mind is an MPFI or not Bikham?

Without a doubt, I would suggest the 2000 model one -- if you have a choice.

Not sure, but this may not be the case as Carb Gypsy was made till 2000 and mpfi came in 2001 IIRC. So do check.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I think 16 Valve MPFI G13BB with 80 Bhp was introduced in March 2000. So the models before the date were not MPFI of which I am quite sure. What you said above has created a doubt in my head.

Since I am too hunting for a MPFI in the auctions, I would like to know which Year of Make should I look for and be sure that I am getting a MPFI.

Please enlighten,

It depends upon the condition. model year does not matter. Yeah 2000 model may have mpfi and few addition.
