Ex Army MM 550 - "It's tough, but not impossible"

Dear 4*4 army - I would sincerely suggest you to please remove the army tyres along with the wheel rims ASAP. They are just too heavy. They are given as per army requirement, also as army moves in convoy slowly, it more of less serves the purpose. If you still want to retain them, please be prepared for recurring expenses to the wheel bearings etc.

Even though the photograph is not very clear, I think your vehicle does not have NGCS. Therefore, you can safely use Gypsy wheel rims with P215/75R15 tyres. I prefer Bridgestone. Then drive your vehicle, you will be very surprised.

Dear DB Sir,

Were the Wheel Disc's provided to M&M by the Indian Army, or did M&M Outsource it to WHEELS INDIA (Part No LP1109).

Please can you tell us the weight difference between LP1109, Regular JEEP Wheel Disc and the New 160PCD Wheel Disc (Commercial Vehicles & NGCSMM550XD)

The other day I met a guy who owns a MM550 along with other jeeps, he said the SAND GRIP tyres put on Army 550 are not good in terms of performance as they tend to wobble the vehicle in higher speeds i.e., above 60-70 is it true?

Dhabhar sir I am planning to have a Jeep, till now 550 was in my mind for its mean looks and for it technical advancement like higher capacity engine, disc breakes etc now I am confused with the tyres aspect please clarify. My requirement is to use it as a daily runner at the most going places lets say 400 or 500 kms once a year or so but love to join off roading once I settle down a nice jeep.

I have seen a immaculately restored MM540 4 wheel drive but the axle and the gear levers are removed with stock size tyres do you suggest me to opt that and add up alloys to it to give a look? what are the pro's and cons please tell us about it, I will be greatful to you.

Thank you DB Sir ! for you valuable input.
Now I am confused on your suggestion on Army wheel rims and Tyres.
My reason behind going for Ex Army MM 550 is its powerful engine, tough body, its heavy Rims and aggressive Tyres.
From day first, I decided not to change original army look of the vehicle as I wanted to use it for Off Roading.

I have Gypsy's Rims with Yokohama Geolander Tyres, I will try it and see its performance.

Roll cage -
work done last month.

Myself and my friend David had done this roll cage work together.

4 points of the 6 point roll cage done, we will do rest of the work when our fabricator will be free.

The colour of vehicle is not final. Its temporary colour which I had changed from original camouflage to off white to avoid attention of the police. At the time of final body colour, I will apply same to the rims.
