2010 Maruti Gypsy with 4,000 kms for 4.7L. Should I bite?

i am off topic, mods please remove my post if deemed totally ot.

i am evaluating to buy a gypsy which i plan to make into a long distance tourer which has a 4wd and daily drive, i have seen one which fits my requirements, as i was planning on the same mods after buying a new one. i want everyones asessment of price and the purpose being met or not.

gypsy specs: 2010 model
run 4000 km
ac : sandem + superking
power steering: new suzuki carriben / jimmy ( they share the same)
front seats : innova
tyres: bfg's
price: 4.7 L

should i go for it?
the ride seemed good, does it satisfy the purpose?

for offroading i have a 3b so this doesnt get to do serious planned otrs.

help me decide. thanks

Thats 2 lacs less that the on-road price of a brand new gypsy here with many extras!! Looks like a good deal to me.

Cheers

Its a deal doc. Don't even think about it. Just check the bodyline and the chassis for any accident.

Is this Sandeep Awana's Gypsy? Check if it still heats, it had heating issues while campaigning. i believe this was resolved.

There are no other issues with the vehicle. Did you meet the owner? Let me know if you need any assistance.

Crazy low price...really there is nothing that can go wrong in a Gypsy that cannot be fixed for cheap unless it is an engine related issue. Take it for a test drive. Check the position and angle of the wheels (shouldn't find anything unusual) and listen for any weird noises coming from gearbox.

Not a fan of the power steering installation...just one more thing which can go wrong and usually does.

Go for it! My own Gypsy has now come up to 8L in value after acquisition and modifications. No way I can let it go for less than 5-6L

Sharat,

Don't be surprised if it is, though it would be registered in someone else's name.

Post pics if you have them.

Yes , i agree , the specs quoted by Doc are similiar to the white one. and it did have a overheating issue which is still unresolved as far as i know.

SS- was it a 2010 or a 2009 ?

Salman - it is a 2010, feb or march i guess.

Sharat, it was done up infront of me. though we did take care of all the short comings by moving the condenser under the vehicle and and putting two BEHR fans on it. later an aftermarket 3 coil radiator was also put with the thermo clutch fan and an electric fan.

it hasn't been abused, my only concern was engine damage due to over heating. as precaution, get the compression test done outside from MASS and compare to the company specifications. it had one or two trips to dehradun, local running and campaigning in elections. the owner doesn't use it anymore as he finds his BMW and Q5 more comfortable.

check ur FB, have sent you a message
