Speaking of people actually buying a Thar, if it has AC/PS and some finish, people who want a 4x4 tourer will go ahead and buy the thar. Safari/Scorpio are a little too expensive.
However, I doubt OTR guys will buy the Thar because OTRs will void warranty,.

If we are looking at a Hardcore OTR vehicle, i think, the Maruti Gypsy is the Best of the lot.

Priced well, can retro fit an A/C, and is capable of good speeds for the long run.

There is no perfect OTR vehicle available in the country as per me, which will match our expectations

Softcore city buyers prefer HT, AC, PS, Security etc.
Hardcore off-roaders want none of the BS but a low price which will allow Mods and OTRs (warranty not worth the paper it's printed on)
So perhaps the Thar CRDe is out to define a new segment. midcore

Nice use of the language - but the so called "softcore" are the one's who can afford to buy "nice vehicles". So business sense says M&M should cater to all segments....hardcore / softcore / no core

No offence meant, but c'mon M&M want to run a company NOT a - whatever
