M&M Bosses. Before releasing the price to the showrooms dont you think Tbhp deserves to be the first to know as we have waited longer than showrooms for this?

Please Vinod sir, DB sir and Spike. Do the honors

The launch speculation will be over by coming Monday or tuesday....there would be an announcement ending all the frustration here...

Its better to keep the excitement levels a bit lower.

Too much is spoken about the Thar.

The pricing will be and might not size up to the Value.

Still I would say it deserved a better Dash than the already trashed design common across all Bolero variants.

So, did the Hitler video actually help or was it just a mere coincidence?

Thanks scoop pics, NIP. Not Ads anywhere yet, it's been a very long wait.

@BD Sir, Vinod... Is the wheel hub immune/waterproofed to wading through sludgy pools of mud? Enlighten us/me.

@Salil, you bet. It must be you who set it rolling with that Hitler jibe video.

Sahi jawaaaab!! 'Its a Jeep thing you won't understand'

Really from the things that transpired on T-bhp, it almost looks like M&M were pressured on a launch.
Coming back, its a great opportunity to get a jeep for all 4X4 and offroading enthusiasts.

About the exitement

But if it is ' too much spoken about ' why not ? afterall its not only created by M&M but by 'an enthusiast ' like us . arn't you aware of 'his' pains ?

Welcome Thar , its a step, its a start , I think this is the first delibrate attempt ( made by anyone /any company ) to address the 'needs ' of a 4x4 er. many more such attempts 'should' follow.

Pricing, IFS, sales figures are not relevent for me ,for me its a creation of an enthusiast ,for enthusiasts.thats how I take it .

Congrats 'Creator' dream come true.

What Behram and Team has done for us is something very difficult to do in a Large company like M&M.

M&M's Scorpio, Bolero etc are doing so well that M&M could simply enjoy with their success.

But we are lucky to get the THAR! It's a dream come true after my Dad sold off his MM540 in 1991. One day I will buy the THAR for sure.

Does it mean all this on/off, LED and speed control is with all plumbing but no compressor/radiator for AC? That would add around 30K more to the deal, right?

Mahindra Thar CRDe Thread-6.jpg

Was thinking the hubs would be made manual to save more costs

re: Mahindra Thar CRDe Thread

Guys: Since the free wheeling hubs are electric and the Transfer case is manual, I think you need some sort of switch to engage the free wheeling hubs. One of the rotary switches maybe for that. Ford Endy Manual 4WD has a similar set up. Electric Free wheeling hubs operated by a switch. For the Electric Shift Transfer case the switch that engages 4WD also engages free wheeling hubs.

I feel it may not be for AC as there is no temp control. Also the compressor and condensor are the most expensive parts of the AC. It doesn't make sense to have condensor/compressor and not have AC. I think what Behram meant was that the ducting, fan & ac vents are provided so you need to add only the compressor & condensor. This is a cleaner set up than the after market set up we do in the jeeps and ambassadors currently where the blower has to be put below the dash or cut into the dash.

One potential problem, I see with air conditioning is that the Intercooler is already in front of the radiator. Now if you want to install the AC evaporation coil will also have to placed in front of the radiator. So you will have the AC evaporation coil & Intercooler in front of the radiator which will reduce air flow into the radiator from front.

DB/Spike any comments on this? I feel you will have to relocate the Intercooler to above the engine and put vents on the hood like the mhawk. Top mounted intercoolers also tend to have less Turbo lag as there is less piping/hoses that the air has to flow from the Turbo before it gets into the exhaust manifold.

But either way, this dream is slowly becoming a reality and hopefully after a few more 30 page Thar threads are closed, this vehicle will see the light of day :-)

re: Mahindra Thar CRDe Thread

Seeing all the excitement in the thread, called up the dealer here in HYD and he said the THAR is there. Went and saw the THARDI 4X2 on delivery bay for display to customers. They didn't know about the CRDe but these were the official prices.

THAR DI 4X2 BS3 - 4,42,000
THAR DI 4X4 BS3 - 4,90,590
THAR DI 4X4 BS4 - 6,17,933

Seeing the last one, I raised a doubt so he said that he will check. But considering the THAR DI is only in BS-3 avatar, I consider the last one to be the THAR CRDe 4x4 BS-4 prices.

I have also initiated the exchange process for my Bolero with the THAR . If all goes well, will have the THAR within a month of its launch

I certainly agree with the part of enthusiast that BD is and what we know of his involvment and drive within M&M to get this out. But with all that, M&M is not doing anyone a charity.

The DI version says it all - volume. And why do you all think this was never mentioned in any of the conversation / posting by BD? It would be naive to think that he, or his team, were not aware of it. It is just to keep the enthusiatis angle alive, but at the same time, provide the bosses at M&M the right pitch for a viable investment. More so, when with this venture they can increase the returns from exiting parts and casting dies.

Lack of control for temperature levels and a compressor switch - seems like just the blower.

Just as BD had said - vehicle will come 'alteration' ready (two things I can recollect - snorkle & roll cage).
