I drove the 2010 Nissan Patrol last year after the launch as part of the sales training.

It is kind of irrelevant to post it now, but i think since it is not sold in India, there will be some interest in it still.

Vehicle - Nissan Patrol VK56VD
Tech - Direct Injection, Variable Valve event & Lift, Hydraulic Body Motion Control
Power - 400 hp
Gearbox - 7 speed Auto
Track - Muscat, Oman.

These snaps are from the track made exclusively for prospective customers to TD the Patrol.

There is a base engine without VVeL & DIG churning out 317 hp as well.

Whoa! It has already generated some interest! I think you should post more details on the drive, ride & handling as well. To me, it looks like Nissan should bring it to India and pitch it against the LC.

Well.. This is the most advanced automobile I have ever driven.

Rock steady is one word which is coming to my mind. The power is enormous, the tyres are huge (265/70R18?), the cabin is spacious.

It is unlike any other 4WD in refinement sense. (I am comparing with LC/previous gen Patrol/Pilot) The cabin is kind of too insulated, with a commanding driver seat position.

You will be gently forced to sleep while driving; the features like i-cruise control, Lane departure warning system, Brake assist etc provided ultimate electronic support for the driver.(I found it to be a little too much, maybe because i am not familiar)

The Offroading part was made very easy again with the help of electronics like Hill Descent Control/Hill Start Assist. The beauty of this machine is that even novices with no 4WDing experience can take it to extreme situations.

But i thought that the Macho feeling is gone now compared to previous Patrol Super Safari.

I finally managed to upload some clips taken from my E71.

If this does not work search for videos by SkylineGTR79 in Youtube. You will find only the above ones.

I think the same vehicle is marketed as the new Infiniti QX56 in USA. Pretty nice technically, but the nose on the Infiniti in USA trim is horrible. This Nissan version looks much better.

Re: Nissan Patrol 2010 Demo Drive.

New QX56 has a softer suspension, a little more leather here, chrome there & different headlamp/taillamps.

Never seen it in flesh but right now it is selling along with Patrol in the GCC market.

Absolutely great. if only they had such tracks in India for potential buyers to test drive the cars. Anyways, this is absolutely awesome.
Enjoy

Re: Nissan Patrol 2010 Demo Drive.

My dad owned the "Nissan Patrol - Super Safari" back when we used to live in Dubai, U.A.E. We used to go dune bashing almost every weekend at Hatta (Mountain sized sand dunes out there). Have to admit, one of the best off-roading vehicles for the GCC market. Second to the Land Cruiser. Although, I have to admit, the older variants of the Super Safari were a lot more rugged (Squarish, box look) as opposed to the new, sleek styled 4WD's. Having driven it a few times, our variant (think it was the 2002 model), it didn't have the best pickup on road, but man, it sure did float in the desert. Would be fantastic if we get to see this vehicle out on the Indian roads. Just my 2 cents!

Re: Nissan Patrol 2010 Demo Drive.

Amazing. It looks very similar to the bulk and design of the Toyota Landcruiser

Splendid videos and amazing capability on the incline, rubble patch. I am always amazed when massive SUVs can prove to be agile in rough terrain, despite their sheer bulk

Re: Nissan Patrol 2010 Demo Drive.

That looks huge. Definately land cruiser huge.
Would like to see some interior shots if possible.
How much does it cost?

Re: Nissan Patrol 2010 Demo Drive.

The LC sells better than Patrol throughout the GCC except the UAE. Personally i think Patrol is more refined. LC scores better in cheaper service & parts availability.

18,000 OMR (base) - 22,000 OMR (Full) for 317 bhp ( Rs 20L - 26L )
22,000 OMR (base) - 28,000 OMR (Full) for 400 bhp ( Rs 26L - 32L )

Made in Japan. Mouthwatering Isn't it?

I love India but hate the automotive tax structure.

Maybe because Armada, Pathfinder & Patrol are from Nissan.

Mouthwatering indeed. Wish we could get such beasts at affordable rates like this here in India. Maybe someday.
