Re: JEEPSTER's ARMADA

Congratulations Jeepster. I'm a fan of Armada. Hope you'll be soon posting restoration pics. From what websites can we know about upcoming govt. auto auctions? I'm keen on a MM540 but I do not know about any such sites.

Congratulations. Nice to see the whole bidding process taking shape.

So what was the final amount you paid. and as for the restoration, are you getting it done by your mechanic or by someone else

Waiting to see the result.

I'd love to do a jeep build of my own, but I'm going to do the next best thing...for now! A friend has asked me to restore his old MM540 and maybe add a few mods. I'm a novice when it comes to building a custom jeep, so you can be sure that I'll be watching this thread with bated breath.

Oops, didn't mean to hijack your thread.

auction was way better experience in present.
it was chaos there.
there were 70 lots of single vehicle but the scrap dealers form mumbai, hyderabad, aurangabad, nanded, beed made a team & forced the auctioneer & government officers to sell it in the 3 lots of 20~30 vehicles.

only 5~6 vehicles were sold individually that day. (the scrap wallas increased bid amount of individual vehicles just to get us out of auction)

Re: Jeepster's Armada

Have you changed the oil & filter before starting the engine ?

Please do not do the 'dhakka start ' again . Its very bad for the drive train .

Re: Jeepster's Armada

@jeepster: Cool. Engine sound seems to be perfect. How was the first drive? Do drive it for few weeks before attempting full restoration.
Thanks for sharing the links.

@milan: your land marshal looks great.

I was looking for MM540 and Armada till now, and now added Marshal to the list,

Re: Jeepster's Armada

Congratulations! eager to see the end result of this restoration.

Personally, i had a very bad experience with Armada, may be it was one of a kind. During a trip to Surat in '02, had to stop 7 times due to over heating. And it was run just 33k and almost new.
