Re: Mahindra Classic 2.5L : In Tight New Clothes!

Hi GTO,

The already killer look is now become a deadly killer look with the works. The soft top looks really great. Can you please share from where you got that made.

The 5th pic from the top looks awesome.

Thanks

Raj

Awesome! Like it to the T.

The paint finish looks superb (pic 3). Pic 5 is absolute drool maal - Will we be seeing this as your new avatar?

The meter console and the soft top looks really neat. What about treating the jeep with a new set of rubber?

If Rudra sir gets to work his magic on this, well, I can always wish, right? he he.

Wow! what a paintjob.

Its hard enough to maintain a black road car. I dunno how you do it on a OTR vehicle (rocks, bushes, thorns)

I have my OEM mesh frame lying around somewhere. Though I don't mind the look of it, I much prefer the classic Jeep 7 slots up front.

Not a bad idea. Drop me a line if & when you are visiting Bombay.

Ferdi sourced the top, my inputs into the Jeep were minimal this time. The one I had earlier had a shiny finish, which I wasn't too big on. This rough, matt look is nice. Will check the bill and update on the $$$.

Don't ever look too close at a Mahindra Jeep; you'll see way too many rough edges

Soon, Samurai...soon

Original Bolero unit (the one that came with the Bolero engine).

IIRC, the bonnet hinge shown in pic is not from a 540, must be from some other model, 540 hinge looks like this:-
Don't know the variation. There was a 540 parked at Milestone which is when I told Ferdi "I want THESE bonnet hinges". They were the same as on my Classic right now.

It's simple : Don't bother! I'll be a little careful now, as the paint is fresh, but 6 months down the line....

Well, a Jeep does look better with scars, no?

Hey, GTO superb ground ups job you have done on your jeep and it looks all the better for it. Forgive me for my ignorance, but have you fitted power steering on your classic? Happy offroading!

Right now, my Jeep is completely stock (of course, if you include a brand new Mahindra engine as stock too). No modifications. With 225 mm tyres, I don't find the steering too heavy. I feel the Jeep is immensely capable in stock form itself and hence, don't want to mess around with, and waste time, on add-ons. This is sound advice given to me by Behram Dhabhar when he sourced the 2.5L engine for me in 2008.

Re: Mahindra Classic 2.5L : In Tight New Clothes!

Superb GTO, loved the paint finish, the rust free bolts all over, and the matt finish soft top.

4weeks and just 3 visits is fast as well as indicates a lot of confidence in the builder getting it the way you see it.

Removing the rear seats is also neat, we all think of removing the stuff that we don't require in our vehicles but still persist with all the junk thinking of the one odd (never to come) occation when we will use it.

Re: Mahindra Classic 2.5L : In Tight New Clothes!

The Jeep looks fantastic. Havent we seen her through all over the years? The paint job is just superb and looks right out of the showroom now. Just love Ferdi's attention to detail on the build. Good job on getting rid of the back seat. Wasnt the best place to be in anyways. If ever there are no bags and someone wants to sit in the rear, we can always put a mattress and rest the back side on that

Nice pictures too Stratos

But in this current Pics, i can not see any AC blower.

Re: Mahindra Classic 2.5L : In Tight New Clothes!

Get the rear bumper corners picked up from me. Will complete the package. Or i'll drop them when i'm in your side of town.

Not considering adding a pintle hook?

Re: Mahindra Classic 2.5L : In Tight New Clothes!

This classic is an example of never ending love for "JEEP".

Fantastic job and I just love the soft top looks. I am no Jeep expert even to the remote, but just my two cents, have you never thought of a dashboard redesign ever. Crude is simple no doubt, but a redesign can add the extra character to the already good looking jeep. But as they say, " To each his own".
Would love to know the cost of rework too?

Rush,

Very well restored! I would reckon your Classic currently looks classier than when it was brand new.
