Re: Mahindra Classic 2.5L : In Tight New Clothes!

GTO,
Again let me tell you, it is a superb, superb restoration.

1. I might copy your idea of the hood hinges for my (wip) cj340, please don't mind.

2. Which is that 11 blade fan that cools your radiator?

3. Where can I source the side view mirror (right hand side type)?

Regards,

Re: Mahindra Classic 2.5L : In Tight New Clothes!

GTO,

In picture no. 13 from the top (in the first post), what is that chain hanging behind the steering wheel and hanging just above the pedals?

Great looking Jeep there!

Re: Mahindra Classic 2.5L : In Tight New Clothes!

Looking at this jeep only one word comes out of my mind and lips Superb! Superb! Superb! I guess this is the pinnacle of professionalism. I have never heard or seen it.

I have little knowledge into jeep and that is all what I gained doing my jeep and observing others but the way your jeep is done is absolute perfect, I see your jeep as an "Object of desire" for anyone. Congratulations.

Re: Mahindra Classic 2.5L : In Tight New Clothes!

Wow....

Well executed.

BTW, what is it that u have used for the Underbody antirust coat????

Recently i came across a polymer based spray at my Dupont dealer, he says, its a thick coat of rubberised material, that acts as damping as well as a great agent to keep away water / rust.

May i know, why a diesel engine replacement ??

What happened to the original Wire Wheels ????

As i said before, this is the epitome of passion. Spending top dollar, not compromising on any count, only the best will suffice. All this on the jeep that is used only twice a week. Way to G(T)O!

GTO, Your Classic is truly hot!
way back in the 90's when I came across Mahindras Ad for the classic, one of the ads read "It runs on Testosterone". The sixth standard student in me believed that this is some new kind of fuel. Was really interested in it untill I looked up the meaning in the dictionary.

I'm using the stock Bolero 2.5L fan.

I get mine from Milestone. You can reach them on +91.22.2418.1291

One end to the ignition, the other to the battery master on/off switch.

Should have stuck with diesel from day 1. I had a brief, unhappy detour with the petrol 1.8 ISZ.

Re: Mahindra Classic 2.5L : In Tight New Clothes!

Damn neat restoration of your Classic - I need to see it in person. This is one hell of a beast that you have and have maintained it very well.

I think it currently looks better than what it might have done when it came out of the Mahindra Factory

Kailash

Those are Bolero side (second row) door hinges, didn't notice them carefully earlier.

Re: Mahindra Classic 2.5L : In Tight New Clothes!

Was headed home from office around 8 yesterday night, got out of the cab outside Wordell chemist (I live across the road) and this gleaming black "topless" beauty caught my eye.

Then saw the "RUSH" on the windshield and exclaimed - "hey that's GTO's Jeep!" A colleague (non-bhpian) who was with me looked at me like I was nuts. Must say the Jeep looked **immaculate**. It looks simply super in the flesh! The paint is just awesome, the black seats and interiors look great as well and really fit in character.

Looked around but didn't see any sign of you. Was in a hurry so pushed off after taking a good long look Well, was good to meet your Classic even though I didn't get to meet you!

Btw really love your 2nd pic - the one with the hinges reflecting off the paint

Regards,
Dear Fazal - the side mirrors are of TATA 407. These are regular production parts. I only adapted them on CL340 in 1994. The bent mountings can be made by heating and bending M10*1.25 TVS bolts. Just cut the head off. The OD exactly matches the mirror mounting bracket. Use 2 nos 17 across flat nuts to mount. It takes 10 minutes to fabricate, one day to black powder coat. Please use LUMAX make mirrors only, other mirrors ID will not match M10 dimension. That's all there is to it. Please remember that in "woriginal CL340", the LHS mirror mounting pipe orientation is flatter and the RHS mirror mounting pipe orientation is taller for Right Hand Drive vehicles. For LHD, it is opposite. Therefore, LHD and RHD part numbers as per BOM are different.

Now you know what a "Vehicle Development" engineers' job is. .

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Sir,
Thank you for the detailed info.
I am very aware and appreciate the DE's job and also know how spokes in the wheel are a part of it.
Also, how the left head lamp part number differs from the rght etc. after my long wish list from Mahindra.
Regards
