WoW... thats some restoration. Good going guys, Really glad to see more and more jeeps are getting life back and becoming (off)road worthy vehicles. I can't wait to see the final product. By the way what is the color planned? Or you want to retain the same color as shown in the pictures?

You are true. I believe the process of restoring a Jeep is a great exercise in self-fulfillment, creativity, passion and patience. I too like to restore an old Bantam, Ford or Willy's someday

Your Jeep is coming up good and looks tall with the leaf spring lift, waiting for further transformation.

Since your Geolandars are brand new, can you give me the outer to outer diameter of the tyre in inches? make it easy, just use a measuring tape, no need for precession equipment . Surely you will understand, approximate.

@ Jaggu: Thanks. The alloy wheels are Stallion and cost me 18.5K and the tires cost me 26.5K. iirc the offset is -3. Nothing much to be done in looks Dept. All thanks to Fazal sir in making a few accessories available for me. He sent me:
Fender extension set, Bull bar, Head Lamp grille pair, Indicator grilles, Glass parking pair, Blackout lamps set, Insect mesh, Original army switches and army antennae.
I also bought Lamda Free Wheeling Hubs from Lamda Components, Bangalore. It cost me Rs. 3100/-

madhkris, the wall-to-wall carpeting of the Jeep may not be a good idea. There are holes in the floor for draining purposes. When you do water fording, water will get in the Jeep, and the floor will remain wet thanks to carpeting. It will lead to quick rusting. Also, the material you have used will tear easily, especially under the pedals, your foot will slip on it. I know this because I had gotten same thing done in my Jeep.

You can use a different carpet material which is much harder and easy to lift for cleaning or drying.



This is a very tough PU sheet which is bolted on the sides, it can be lifted for cleaning.

Also notice that I have a ledge on the right side at the bottom of the tail gate to support the tail gate. you have none.

I could see this is a custom made one, however on the right side of your body where the tail gate rests, you actually need two tail gate resting beds (not sure what is the actual term used). I could see you have one on the upper area, you also need one on the bottom side.

If you inspect the edge of your tailgate you will notice the holes to fix the resting rod setup. I would suggest you to buy and fix the upper side too.

As Samurai suggested, go for ledge, also the resting clamps, they are very important one for the half tail door with spare tyres. This reduces the noise and also helps protecting the hinges from carrying all the load.

However it is likely that the washer used in hinges worn out very fast. Hence the best way to protect the hinge is to have the setup as mentioned by Spike using army tail door and spare wheel mount door configuration.

Sorry for the confusion, the picture shows the red circled area which is the clamp to hold the half door on the upper side.

The missing clamp on the bottom (green circled area)which suppose to be there, I have seen it on my jeep and others too.

Both, it will tear off gradually in day to day use, more quickly in severe rough road / off-road use.

Have a look at the army brackets, one is an Arnold and the other Dhanush..
