We were fortunate to buy this car early this year and we have almost completed its restoration. This car will participate in the Bangalore Rally on 20th Dec09. I will give a brief history of Plymouth PBs, update on our car and will load the unrestored pictures of the same car. Post the rally, I will upload the pictures of the fully restored car. The Plymouth PB was introduced in 1932 with one-piece front fenders, free standing chrome head lamps and a better version of their four cylinder engine (New Finer). The frame was upgraded to a rigid X construction and oil filters became standard equipment. The brake drums were now centrifuse (basically steel drums with a cast iron friction surface fused to them). Production of the New Finer Plymouth PB commenced on 4th Feb, 1932 and ended on 27th Sept, 1932 and a total of 83940 units were built. The Plymouth PBs of 1932 was offered in the following models. This car was imported by a reputed businessman from Bellary, Karnataka and was registered in 1933. We understand that two cars were imported at the same time; the other was for a high ranking government official at Pondicherry. We are very curious to know if any such other car survives in India. The speedo of the car shows a mileage of 65954.4 miles, run over 45 years as we understand that the owners stopped using the car in 1978. This car had a caravan attached to it which was used for their big game hunting trips. The homemade trailer hitch can be seen in the rear of the car. They had modified the rear to mount jerry cans to carry fuel behind the number plates for their long trips. Unfortunately the caravan got burnt 10-15 years back. In the absence of the caravan we do not plan to retain these modifications. The unique features of this car are Rare Plymouth PB, Seven Passenger Delux Sedan, only 2179 units built. Last of the 4 cylinder engines for many years, as from the year 1933 6 cylinder engines were introduced.
