Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

One word
I did not expect so many concepts from Hero group considering their infancy stage in motorcycle development on their own. I do realize that many of the offerings are not in the near future. But, i do not remember Hero group this aggressive in showcasing their concepts in the past.

The things which caught my eye:
1. ion motorcycle which is hydrogen fuel cell powered. Good to see indian companies thinking in to the future.
2. Production ready 250cc HX250R model. When did they design and develop this ? So fast.
3. Splendor Classic. What a way to revive the best seller. Completely pleased. Just make the seat bigger and flatter and Hero will be having one more million unit motorcycle in their arsenal. Loved the retro looks.

I was never a fan of Hero motoCorp. I think, i need to change my perspective.

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

Hero was a BIG SURPRISE this time for me!

Totally excited with the new HX250 (Which I wont consider purchasing though! Lot of other proven options available) and the new Zir (which I would definitely purchase as soon as bookings annouced! No other good powerful scooter on the market! )

But I am not able to gauge if the Zir is just a showcase, or production ready? Looks production ready, except for the headlamps. Can anyone who has seen it in metal comment on this?

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

First it was the TATA that surprised me with the new interiors , now HMCL has proved its capability with the HX250 . I am keeping my fingers crossed for the Hastur (I don't know what it means , but I think they can come up with a new name ) . All said and done , the new face lifts on the karizma and cbz are a big let down. No engine kill switch and the headlights look some what disproportionate .

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

By far the best stall in the Auto expo 2014. Hats off to Hero for showcasing so many products catering to all segments. HX250 sports bike takes the cake amongst the display. Totally rugged looking, head turner. Waiting to see them soon on the roads. Any ideas of the costing part?

Finally we see a Macho scooter in the form of Zir although the front protection glass is ruining the looks and the RVM's look tacky. The chrome exhaust simply looks yummy.

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

Thats a lot of scooters and bikes from Hero!! Its quite a surprising fact that Hero has come up with a long and IMPRESSIVE line-up of bikes. I thought it was a dead-end for Hero when Hero had become independent from Honda but the new line-up is quite exciting and this is a good thing for Hero. With the current partnership with EBR i think Hero should scale greater heights.

IMHO the Zir and HX250R are great offerings. I feel the cafe racer type Splendour is also nice. IMO its got a nice design and i guess it will be a nice cheap alternative for the Continental GT even though both these bikes are in completely different leagues altogether.

Thanks Parrys for the detailed report.
