None taken. I do not know you personally to take things from you, personal.

I am not out there to change that.
Wonder why few of you are here to cover up for the store then, I wonder.

It's unfortunate that their service was not upto the mark and I clearly said they need to fix the issues of the customers who are unhappy. There's no 2 ways about that.
Very fair. Thanks.

You seem to pick up hints from my posts and reply, and then you again say that you are not being specific and just generalizing. Whatever, guys!

When I said personal I meant specific to you. I think it was clear that what I meant was don't think I am specifically pointing to you.

On one side you say cover up for the store and on the same post this:

I will give you another general example (hope this one hasn't happened with you and you think i'm pointing at you)

You give your car for service. Unfortunately you don't do a proper check and there's a deep scratch on it which you missed. After 2 days you go back and tell them about it.

How many will accept the mistake and fix the problem and how many will say it happened in the 2 days you used the car?

This is what I am trying to say about instant feedback.

They even have a feedback form that asks for quality of work. Many people give 10/10 then go back and check to find an issue. That's giving wrong feedback if you're not happy with the service and then later on complain about it. That will help them improve. Give a 6/10 and see what they say else they won't even know nothing is wrong.

I have even refused to fill the feedback since my car went for wash and was collected by driver but since I didn't see it, I told them no feedback till I see the car for myself.

I tell any service provider on his face on the spot if I am not happy with the work. This is what I have been trying to say.

PS: Again nothing personal and I'm not sticking up for the store. Actually this works better for me. They will pull up their socks from this and it helps during my next visit.

Mod Note:

Please move on.
Lets get back to reviewing the service provider instead of going almost off topic.

Thanks,

Just to clear a misunderstanding.

No. I don't have that opinion. Relevant part qouted below. Infact - I am of the opinion that PPF is a very expensive item and you need not live with any issues that may have cropped up. Hence my suggestion to speak to them directly and get the issue rectified.

Hope its clear now.

Re: 3M Car Care (HSR Layout, Bangalore)

Car #7 went to the 3M boys. My FIL Black Vento with 1600Kms. Did the basic 3M paint Sealant and some minor corrections. I am very happy with my results. FIL was extremly happy.

The car already had a bunch of swirl marks due to the hasty daily cleaning by the driver and most of them are gone.

Thanks guys, you have made Car #7 happy. Car #8 should be on its way soon.

Back at 3M again to do the paint protection film for the full front bumper. Being shadow blue, it tends to nick pretty easily. Long trip planned and we'll see how it holds up. All said, once again the gents at 3M did an outstanding job. Not a single air bubble or any defect. The lower front lip was q little difficult, but the boys pulled it off.

Thanks again to all the gents at 3M. Again a satisfied and happy customer.

Re: 3M Car Care (HSR Layout, Bangalore)

My 2 cents on overall experience with 3M HSR Layout.
Been there twice for my car and 3-4 times with other cars. Purely honest personal observations. No rants or indirect marketing.
  • Dudes over their generally do a good job with wash and polish. If there are a lot of cars in queue, they get into fast forward mode. Prices are on a higher side but still VFM.
  • Interior jobs + AC clean. Not worth. Too pricey and not so effective. My AC odour is back in 3 months after spending 900 bucks. MASS does a better job for 400 bucks.
  • Vinyl wrap and floor mats. Definitely a rip off. My neighbour got his whole Swift roof wrapped (Mini cooper style) for 1100 bucks. Decent job. Beat that

I would advice not to set too high expectations after reading this thread. Like other things in life it is not perfect.

You can eliminate this by using two simple steps. 1. Switch off a/c compressor 10 mins before parking the car and 2. Occasionally use the heater, specially if you are back from a long drive.

I never had to resort to a/c cleaning yet and no foul smell issues.

There is a difference is the quality of the wrap. The 3M wrap has a good surface feel to it like carbon fibre, unlike most imitations wraps out there which feels like printed on a single sheet of vinyl.

But yes, you are right - if the difference is worth the asking price or not is purely personal opinion.

After reading a lot of good reviews, been to the 3M center at HSR nearly 6 months ago and got the 5 year under body coating done on the almost brand new car then!

Pradeep was there (he said Sidhu sir would come soon but he never did) and he was courteous enough. Offered me a cup of chai too. The work was neat and I was satisfied when I received my car there!

Once I returned home, noticed a few things- there were a few tar like marks from the underbody spray! If I looked at the under body from the side- they had not sprayed the bottom from the side properly! Also during the actual spraying I observed that they attached the can of that underbody liquid to a sprayer and the boy found it really difficult to fit the sprayer through the tires (due to the fat can) and do the wheel wells! Also the under body coating area is dark and the light provided is through a hand carried light similar to the ones the videographers use in weddings! Would've preferred them raising my car up and removing the wheels and then spraying it. Will suggest when I go there in the month end for getting a touch up/inspection!

Overall exp: 7.5/10

Wow ! I pay 1000 INR for a wash n wax and then I am expected to "tell" people on how to do their job properly. Why should I waste time on a weekend and go there if I am expected to look after valuables in my car , if I have to supervise them ,... I would rather go to a petrol pump or a local garage where they would do a better job for half the money.

I have paid 3K INR for the underbody rust coating with a 6 month check up for 3 years , but I will definitely not go there again. I don't mind paying 2 K INR for a wash , but I would definitely not go to a place where I have things disappearing from my car. I have been to the worst of garages , but never in my 15 years of owning vehicles that anything has vanished from my car at a workshop.

I am also writing to 3M along with a link to this thread.

Re: 3M Car Care (HSR Layout, Bangalore)

Whenever I have visited the place, I have always been asked about any valuables in the car and to remove them prior to work starting. I have seen them do this for all the customers who come there for any of their services. I'm not referring to your specific case of losing some valuables, but in general I as an owner would double check presence of valuables before giving the car in any place where workers are likely to access the car in my absence, be it an accessories shop, wheel alignment centre, authorized service centre or detailing shop.

P.S - I lost a USB drive when I gave my car at Prerana motors for the first service 2 years back. Obviously some boy in the service station might have taken it, but I am also partly to blame for ignoring the service rep's words to check all belongings before leaving the car and heading home. Again, like I said, I am not referring to your specific bad experience with losing the wax tin since I am not in any way related to it, but just a general observation as a fellow car owner.

Agree ! They did tell me to remove stuff from my car. I never in my dreams expected a new 3M wax polish box to disappear in a 3M wax polishing workshop. I can confidently say it vanished into thin air during the wash or polishing as I had checked it in boot before giving them the keys enough has been said about this.

Good thing about this incident is that I have got myself a new Collinite 915 polish and a couple of other car care stuff thanks to Pedaltometal's polishing tips.
