Default 3M Car Care : Banaswadi, Bangalore

Had taken my sister's Polo to 3M Car Care Banaswadi, Bangalore today.

The owner is Mr. Mahendra and he said that its the biggest one in India with a capacity of 15 cars. Has been open for the last 2 years.

Other than the work floor, they have a big lounge upstairs and a basement where, I think, they do the water washes.

I had to install PPF on the door handle grooves and it cost Rs.850. Seemed to be on the higher side as I had got it done for my car at 3M Mangalore for around Rs.500, but that was last year. Maybe the prices have increased.

The work done was satisfactory; I mentioned that one was cut a little bit too much and he promptly replaced it. Was done within 10 minutes once they started.

The guys look like they know what they are doing. Also noticed that they were very deligent in cleaning even inside the screw grooves of an Ecosport. This despite them having worked on over 15 cars today - festival rush.

Was quoted 1,800 for wash and wax, and 7,000 for foam wash.

Likes
  • Lots of space - 15 cars at a time
  • Meticulous workmanship
  • Customer-centric culture: owner and the guys on the floor

Dislikes
  • Pricing: Felt it was on the higher side in this specific instance

Friends,

Yesterday I left my 6 months old Fortuner for GermKleen,UV Protection and installing door ege protection films.

Quality of service was very poor and team there lack fine quality eye.

Interior and exterior wasn't cleaned properly. Films where having bubbles and dirt inside.

Rear seats was placed cross on top of the floor carpets and got damaged.

Wont suggest this place.

Thanks,
Rajith.

On Nov 1st my Fortuner has been scheduled for a rework and this time work has been carried out under direct supervision of the Mr Mahender the owner of the outlet.
Quality of work is good and top notch.Every minute details has been taken care and it reflects in their work now.
Thanks.

Does anyone have contact details of Mahendar?

You need to visit the place only when he is in there. The workers are slacking off when he is absent. Had visited the place last Friday around 4:30 in the evening. The new 'manager' told me he is full and asked me to come on Saturday. Looking in I could see only one car being serviced. When I asked him about that, he said the other cars are in the basement undergoing a wash.

I am a regular here and get both my cars serviced here. Initially the quality was very good, but recently it is taking a hit as I believe they are finding it difficult to hold on to good workers.

I got work done on my S-Cross there and I am not at all happy with them. The biggest issue is that they make tall claims but do not own up to their shoddy work. Problems

a. Bubbles form on paint protection film
b. Scratches and inconsistent finish on the CR-70 films I have installed on all windows and winshield.

I don't recommend them at all.

Update from my end -

Had visited the place last week. I had gone back there again because I am a regular and had always gotten good service from them. Also wanted to give them the benefit of doubt.

I wasn't disappointed. The so called 'manager' I had met during my previous visit was not a manager but a worker. I guess he wanted to get home early. And looks like he isn't working there anymore.

So, long story short, I got my car pampered. Overall good job by the lads.

Guys,
is it advisable to do ceramic coating on a new car (skoda rapid white color) ? This has come from dealer and is quoting 30k. Is it worth the price?

Also, what are the best place in Bangalore where I can get it done, if at all I am going for it?

Thanks

Ceramic coating in itself is an ocean of products and all have different prices. It is worth it only if you can maintain it with a few basic dos and don'ts.
There are many brands in Bangalore all ranging from 30k to 80 k also so it depends on the budget and what all is being offered in the package.
On the forum itself, there is a dedicated post for ceramic coating which can be referred to. An alternate option is the PPF which is expensive but offers the most protection. In either case, it does enhance and protect the paint and offer gloss and protection which is good in the long term.
Additionally, I would suggest getting it done from an individual detailer or outlet rather than from the dealer itself because you don't know what product are they going to use. An individual detailer
will explain the process and will walk you through different products and prices based upon which you can decide.Plus in case the work being done is not satisfactory you cant go back to the dealer but in the case of an individual you can.
