This is a review of the detailing outlet AutoProtect India which is on Sarjapur road, just next to the Agara Lake.

Black cars, as good as they look, really are a pain to maintain. Though small dents and nicks don’t really show up that much, the dust and swirl marks are there for everyone to see in all their ugly glory. I own a 2012 Black VW Jetta which had never been detailed in its lifetime and the car was really starting to show its age. There were ugly swirl marks all over the car and the front end was looking especially tired. I knew it was time to get at least a basic detailing done and thus started off with my search for a good detailer.

After a bit of research and reaching out to a couple of detailers around the HSR/Koramangala area, I finalized AutoProtect for getting a basic detailing done to my car. Their outlet is right next to the Hyundai service center which is diagonally opposite the Agara Lake. I always used to see this outlet whenever I was going towards Koramangala via the Agara lake road.

What I liked:
- Reasonable pricing for a basic detailing. The other detailing outfits I reached out to were estimating five digit rates for basic detailing.
- A lot of parking space behind the shop.
- Dedicated floor in the basement for detailing.
- Friendly and Knowledgeable owners.
- Quality of products used. Though I did not opt for any ceramic coating, they do use Modesta products for the same. I think AutoProtect is one of the distributors for Modesta products in India.
- Some eye candy cars lined up in their showroom. There was a Miata on display when I was there!
- Tie-ups with RaceDynamics and 6th Mile Customs for performance mods.

What I didn’t like:
- No package pamphlets.
- Approach road to the parking area.
- Can be very expensive if one goes for Ceramic Coating.

The outlet is run by two blokes, Nidhin and Aftab who have a hands on experience with detailing themselves. Nidhin wasn’t around when I went to get my car detailed so I was attended to by Aftab. As with other detailers, I asked for what packages they offered but unfortunately, they did not have any pamphlets which described the services that they offered. It wasn’t a big deal for me but others might not like this approach.

Anyway, I was looking at a basic detailing which would remove all the swirl marks and the surface scratches and showed Aftab my car. He took a look around the car and was frank enough in telling me what his team can and cannot do.

I asked for all the steps which will be taken by his team for the detailing the car and was patiently told about everything. I won’t go into the details of the entire process but suffice to say, the process is pretty thorough and at par with what other detailers are offering.

The whole detailing took 3 about days and I’m not exaggerating when I say this but the car had been transformed. Almost all swirl marks had been taken care of and the car was gleaming as if fresh out of the factory. There were a few places where I could still see some swirl marks which I thought could be taken out. As it was late evening, the workers had already left for the day. But Aftab himself started detailing the areas I had marked out and ensured everything was done to my satisfaction. Kudos to his attitude of placing customer satisfaction at the top of everything else.

You can see the stark difference in this pic. The left side (from the pic's perspective) of the hood is detailed and the right side is untouched.















They also did a basic interior cleanup of the car. Overall, I am a happy customer. The detailing cost me INR 6000 all inclusive which IMO is extremely good VFM for the quality of work that they offer.

Was a bit surprised when I did not see any posts on TBHP for this outlet and hence I had to finally shrug off my dormancy (I joined TBHP way back in 2006 and have been a silent reader for a long time now ) and write out this small-ish post to get the word out there.

Your car looks gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your experience. Good option for people living around HSR, Koramangala, Bellandur considering the price you have quoted for 3 days of effort.

It's under new management and name now but the place is definitely still there. It's called Carsbuddy. I don't have any experience with the new team but the reviews on Google look positive.
