Default Car repairs & maintenance - Automac (Horamavu, Bangalore)

Name: Automac
City:Bangalore
Area:Hormavu (a kilometer after the railway track), North Bangalore
Name of the Owner: Mr. Thomas
Specializes in : All kinds of vehicles. Have seen a lot of exotics and VAG cars as well.

What I like: 1.Honest work
2. The owner is honest and extremely thorough with his work

3. Reasonable pricing
What I didn't : 1. Car does take some time to be delivered in case of delivery

I have got both my cars serviced here and have not a bad experience (touchwood). He uses Addinol as the oil for all vehicles.
Note: I am in no way associated with Mr. Thomas or Automac, this is just a review of how I felt after giving my car there.

Address: VDS Complex, 1A, Kalkere Main Rd, Horamavu, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560016

Phone: 099020 09989

This post looks like a opinion to me(Really sorry, if I am offending). Would have appreciated if the review had at least:

1. Type of car serviced, kms run,
2. Issues /complaints faced
3. The way the dealer/service provider resolved the issue (What made the reviewer think that the shop is a specialist in a given function)
4. Charges levied, a small comparison with known dealers to say, it is cheaper)
5. What is USP (Unique selling point)
6. Probable reasons for not liking a particular characteristics with a story

Not offended, even I thought of that after posting.
1. I have got my Santro Xing (119k km) and Honda Amaze (50k km) serviced here.
2. I got my Santro's second clutch set replaced here and my Amaze's brake pads replaced.
3. So one day my Amaze was accelerating on its own and the moment he opened the bonnet he found the issue (one of the air inlet pipes was bit off by a mouse). The Santro had no pickup in 2nd and 3rd gear and he pointed to the clutch which was stock at 1,19,000 kms. Now I know you may think, what's great about all of this, well in this time and age it is hard to find honest and passionate people.
4. So I ended up paying 14k for my Santro's clutch overhaul as well as the service (all parts were OEM) . If I would have gone to Hyundai I would've ended up spending more than 20k surely.
5. I'm not sure if this is a USP but he has years of experience and that shows in the way he works.
6. So I'd given the Amaze for service a day before a trip to AP and I was promised a time of 6, it was almost 7 when I called him when he finally said that his boys are out to deliver another customer's car. Had to end up going all the way to Horamavu, which at that time is filled with traffic thanks to the white topping

Hope this helps(?)
Cheers

Well, hope he is genuinely honest now.

This was my post from 6 years ago after I visited the place after being recommend by one of his customers.
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...ml#post3412496 (OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars)

After this experience, I had no doubt that he ripped me off. His associate who came with a suitcase with an ancient box which was actually a OBD scanner just looked for errors in the log and charged me 1k for it.
The funny part was, this owner of the place saw my car, which was a previous gen Figo with free flow exhaust and a cold air intake, and said I should fix a small turbine wheel at the intake pipe so more air is sucked in!

The issue I went there was because the accelerator pedal when blipped when the clutch was engaged , wouldn't respond when the car was rolling in low speed, which later I realized was normal. When I told him that, he said that is risky and it is an issue and kept revving the engine and called his associate with the suitcase to run diagnostics so both of them could make a quick buck. After the diagnostics didn't throw any errors, he conveniently said it is normal.

Sorry, but being an open forum, I had to give the negatives.

Well, I have only been using his services from the past year. Haven't had any such issues up till now (touchwood). Will keep a stricter watch on the work from now onwards.
Thank you sir.

If I remember correctly, Mr Timothy Thomas moved from Kothanur to Horamavu in 2010 times. Since I used to stay very close to the Automac Garage, I used to give my 1998 model Zen and Brio VMT for service and repair to him. My overall experience was very good and positive. Since he had to call a 3rd party scanner, he used to charge 1000+ for any scans which generally used to be free in Authorized service centers. Now I believe he has invested in scanning tools.

Once MASS ruined my Zens clutch assembly and was corrected by Thomas. And also once my Brio fell into an overflowing ditch and front bumper got damaged. Honda suggested replacement and in Automac they re-crafted the bumper and painted, it looked new, for 3500 odd rs.

I think lot of people trust him with exotics, i have seen Merc S class, Nissan Patrol, Range rover etc being serviced there. Now two of my friends service their BMW X1 with him and are pretty satisfied with the service he provide at almost less than half the cost at BMW service center.

Once while waiting at his garage for my car, he was repairing a Ford Fiesta petrol car whose engine got a hydro-static lock and Ford apparently quoted ~5L for repair. He was doing it for half the price. After the rebuild was completed, he stood in front of the car, said some small prayer with making a cross and the started the engine, it fired up in the first crank
