This has been a pending review post for sometime!
I took delivery of my Mahindra XUV300 on Nov 4th, 2021. It is my first car ownership and of course, the first baby is always pampered!
Even before buying the car, I was already searching for paint protection solutions because as an enthusiast I used to pay attention to other car owners using rags to clean their rides (made my heart squirm!). Thanks to this thread, the first (and only) place that I called was Krithi Car Care.
The Consult
Mr. Krishna Prasad (or KP) asked me to drop by on Nov 6th which was a Sunday. I had a drive planned on that day so thought I'll drop in straight after the drive for a quick consult with the expert in business. Within 2 minutes, KP was able to find out a bunch of paint defects that we had completely missed during the stockyard PDI. However, when he said these are common defects that aren't spared even on a Merc, I was feeling a little better. Thanks to KP, there is one particular paint drop defect on my car's bonnet that I now fondly consider as a birthmark!
He explained the process in detail on how everything works and what are the limitations with full transparency. It wasn't a sales pitch, rather just two BHPians talking about cars and paints.
After the discussion, we decided to go with full PPF (except the roof where the ceramic coating would be sufficient). However, we were still a bit skeptical since it was going way out of our budget. We thought about deciding on it after going home so we headed back.
And that's when the banger happened. On bumper-to-bumper traffic in KR Puram, the Swift in front of me stopped abruptly (some guy on a bike had jumped from an alley) and I ended up rear-ending the Swift. Thankfully, nothing happened to anyone except for our XUV300 lapping up a few scratches on the front left bumper - exactly the kind of use for a PPF. It reinforced the fact that protection to the car is almost impossible to be guaranteed.
I called KP and told him about the incident. He saw the pictures and said it is easily fixable. He agreed to get it done and then do the PPF.
I dropped the car on 7th Nov and got it back on 10th Nov. They typically only need 2.5 days, however, the additional time was required because of the paint correction work.
KP also suggested to get a leather and plastic trim coating done for the interiors as an add-on. The W8(O) variant gets Ivory White interiors and it'd be a pain to maintain them. So this was certainly an excellent add-on to have!
Some pictures! This is the car from the stockyard for reference
The scratches I managed to give the car!
All scratches fixed! Yay!! Thankfully, these weren't deep because the speeds were less than 10kmph
PPF done, the car in all its glory!
Pros- Very straightforward dealing - no beating around the bush. The facts are presented straight to you, logically. KP will give a very detailed explanation with proofs.
- Excellent attention to detail and workmanship! KP and his team love what they do and do this with passion. It's not a job for them.
- They directly procure their PPF material and hence have complete control over the quality
- They also do an inspection after 2-weeks to iron out some issues that are expected to come
Cons- It is a bit on the expensive side; but they don't call themselves "cheap/affordable" either. This is a premium offering.
- The facility is a bit small. I was lucky to get a quick appointment but may not be the case for everyone. In any case, KP said they are moving to a bigger facility soon.
Overall,
10/10 would recommend. If the car ownership is important to you then give your car this treatment. If you're confused, I'd suggest having a conversation with Mr. Krishna Prasad and he'll guide you.
