LPG Specialist : Mr. Pandian (Bangalore)

I have been to Peekayam Gas Works, which belongs to Mr. Pandian. I would like to share my experience of getting my LPG works done there with him.

first off, the place is not on the main road, neither is it easy to access. But Pandian guides well for us to reach there without any hiccups. I was very much impressed with the kind of equipment he has and the knowledge of what he does.

He has a stoichiometric analyzer for tuning openloop and lambda based LPG units, he uses this to analyse the emission, rich/lean mixture lever etc. usually the LPG guys try to achieve a setting by tuning the idling of a car. This guy does it with numbers. He is pretty professional at any install/repair. I have seen the level of detail in his work, and simply astonished. My palio LPG kit was installed in hyd and then I visited Mr. pandian to get a good tune up done. He checked the wiring and it was pretty bad. Immediately he started with rerouting all the wiring and it must be seen to be appreciated !! a group of 4 wires are spliced, connected to sensors and then again sleeved together using a heat resistant sleeve to prevent shorting/melting of wires. Pretty systematic, he uses black for earth, red for 12v, brown for sensor and so on. No change watsoever!!

I am currently getting my baleno rewired and will post a few pics of work in progress soon. He also installs sequential kits ranging from 35 to 45K, and has a laptop to tune these kits.

will be posting more information and pics of his work. I just wanted to let people know, theres this guy, in HSR layout, who does a very good install/repair of any LPG kit ( i have seen him work on openloop till sequential), speaks flawless english, understands our requirements, tries to repair if anything can be repaired ! He even repairs my palio's ROM sensor, when concorde gave me the only option of replacing it.

I hope this info helps people using LPG as a fuel, and also prospective users of LPG. I will put some pics later.

Here are the pics of my Baleno LPG Kit rewiring & closed loop control installation.

The pics show him making the clamp & filing it all by himself, and installing the kit.

The stepper motor position was set and after taking a drive, he was not satisfied with the response and now the stepper motor has been moved closer to the gas mixer (round venturi near air filter). The stepper motor should be as close to the mixer as possible and many installers dont take note of this fact. After this change, he could make my unit run leaner and thus get more average and drive-ability from the same system . This closed loop kit from Tartarini can be tuned by a laptop, it has an ECM in which we get to see all the readings of rpm, gas flow, step position etc which can be tuned !!

For Sequential LPG Kits, Pandian has two options, 1 from EuropeGas costing 35,000/- & another from BRC costing 45,000/-. I might someday go for this

Note to MODS: I am not able to edit the first post, if possible, add the contact number in the title/first post .

Does he work on old cars too? I have a Lavota kit installed on my 118 NE and want it to be tuned to perfection to get the ideal power and FE.

EDIT: Oops! Saw the contact number and called him. He does work on old cars. I plan to visit this weekend.

Good going ! Say my Hello to him

If it is an open loop lovato kit, then i presume he will use a stoichiometric analyzer to check the lambda or something !

Sure thanks!

I dont know what type of LPG system my NE has. All I know is it is a carburetted car and I have installed every single component of LPG original. Let us see how my car fares after visiting him.

This is nice & useful piece of information about this guy in HSR layout. There was always a shortage of proper technical guys in this area.

However, i feel that his kit costs are high. One get a better price, if we approach a direct importer of the LPG kits.

Yes. That is true and holds good not only for lpg kits but for any goods you purchase. What you are paying more here is for installation.. tuning & service back up whenever you require.

I have got the sequential kit BRC installed in my Baleno & believe me or not, I have been to him atleast 10 times to achieve the proper tuning for performance & mileage. He was patient and all the time encouraged me to be satisfied first and then pay him.

I have now shifted base to Hyderabad and i still haven't found such a technically sound installer here to get my baleno tuned to same levels.

Re: LPG Specialist : Mr. Pandian (Bangalore)

I had been to this place a couple of days back to tune the open loop system on the Ikon. It used to flutter around and idling used to be horrible.

I had been to several places before and all of them were like nothing much can be done with the open loop system on the Ikon. Though, Pandian too started off on the same note, he said he will do some trial and error and try to solve the issue, but did not promise anything. Finally, he changed the mixer to the one he uses for the sequential system and after a couple of tune ups and trials, the car runs super smooth on LPG.

Cars come from all over the south for LPG conversions to him. When I was there, an Esteem came in from Suraksha (Maruti ASC) for some LPG related work. Moreover he has a neat and a systematic workplace, which speaks a lot.

I found him to be honest and quite a knowledgeable guy. He knows his stuff.
Highly recommendable place for LPG related work in Bangalore.

EDIT: Somebody was talking about importing the kits directly from the manufacturer. Pandian used to be the Karnataka distributor for Tartarini kits, not sure if he still is.
