Heritage Motor Museum - UK

Hi Bhpians

I recently visited the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon in UK. This museum is located in the same complex as the head quarters of Land Rover and Aston Martin. Link to the museum site here.

A little bit about why and how I ended up at the museum. I work at the JLR Coventry office and happened to go down to the Gaydon site for some work when I discovered that JLR employees can visit the museum without a ticket . The next few months were spent in shooting lame excuses at my manager to visit the Gaydon office which did not materialise . Finally I decided to drag along my poor family to the museum who were here to visit me for a week. These pics were mostly clicked by my nephew and hence I don't have any pics of the descriptions of the cars, I will try and post as much trivia as possible from what I remember. Hope you guys like the pics. This post has the F1 and sports car section covered. I will soon upload the pics of vintage and record breaking cars.

Jackie Stewart's car. I was spell bound by the sheer character and monstrous stance this car had, especially when it was parked beside the Jaguar F1 car. Hell now I know why "those were the days"!! Just look at that cylinder ducked below the rear wing. Any ideas what is that cylinder for ??

The silver tank at the rear is the engine lubricating oil scavenger tank used in conjunction in a 'dry sump' system.

Here is a slightly clearer image of the rear of the car when it first arrived at our museum on loan in Scotland about to go on public display -
