Classic Cars in Myanmar, Burma

I have started visiting Myanmar as part of my official territory. Now few years ago Ajay had mentioned that Myanmar / Burma is treasure trove of old car parts, keeping that in mind this visit I have an evening to spare, so I went in search of some shops selling car parts but in vain. But since I will be visiting quite often, I will be on their look out.
I am sad to sate that 2 years ago govt allowed 2nd hand cars from Japan . And also gave return bonus for their old cars. 99% cars in Yangon now are Japanese 90's to current era.
All old cars were recycled. I did manage to see some old cars but that just one or two. All the trucks and utility vehicles are classic bedford, hino, LR, Some Toyota. With most of them retaining just the shells.
Also there are lot of Low bonnet jeeps but with diesel engine Pajero dashboard and like, sad state indeed. I also found one good condition CMP / Chevy truck running around. There is a painting by an artist depicting the same truck. I am told that Rangoon (Yangon) does not have these but out skirts and adjoining areas still have the trucks + you will still find a good no of English cars out of the city in other parts.
I am also wondering, it would be worth visiting the scrap yard where they scrap old cars, who knows we may find some stuff. Any way on to the pictures there are some vehicles that I need you guys to identify.

1.) What is the blue SUV with an m logo on the grill, is that by any chance Japanese.
2.) What is the yellow pickup truck.
3.) What is the barn find two tone car / also in same location was the other green example. Are they Russian or Czech?? The logo looks similar to Scania trucks.
4.) In one picture you will see a Tata Nano (IMAG0655).
5.) Ajay the Hino truck has Stanley head light dooms .
6.) The mustang is a mixed bag 1967 with a Mach 1 front end (if I am right), your comment guys. Never the less a great car.
7.) Land rovers are in plenty.
8.) So are the classic Toyota's.
9.) One picture has a classic brick building, which is to be restored by Govt.
10.) One picture of number plate is to show that one screw to hold the plate is actually a seal provided by govt.
11.) 2 B&W pictures are of British using the Track type tractor for the work there (was in my dealers office).
12.) One more picture is of a red maroon hino bus with a wooden log as a parking brake, common in all the busses .
13.) Also need you to identify the blue car in the centre of the picture of IMAG0714.

More when I visit the country next. Hope you guys like these pictures.

PS: I will upload pictures in a While.

re: Classic Cars in Myanmar, Burma

Very interesting. I would have imagined that Burma still had a lot of old cars.
Here are two old photos taken in Burma, a truck and a Ford Consul.
These type of trucks like the Hino were to be found in Goa, they came in before 1961.
The truck seems to be participating in some parade.

Cheers harit

Yes Harit uncle, burma still has lot of Old cars, but most of the cars in Yangon (Rangoon) are now replaced with Second Hand Japanese cars.

I have been told that out of Yangon, in other town old cars are still there. And the CMP trucks still run on the out skirts of Yangon City. I am there once again this monthend. Let's see what the city reveals this time to me.

Some more pictures.

A nano taxi can be seen zipping away -

Wah ajay, these are cool videos, the thing is that I only got to visit Yangoon and Nay Pyi Taw, I do not see any old stuff as Yangoon is flodeed with modern cars and Nay Pyi Taw is a recent built town.

In the video I see that the town is Mandalay which is a small town and hence have these novelties with all the Japanese mechanicals.

The blue with white nimber plate is for tourist vehicles, the red with white are for taxi and commercial vehicles, the black with white is for private vehicles.

Any way I was lucky to see one in my trip last week, plus the train that you speak off .

Also I found one dodge truck too.

I do not know, cause all my visits I am accompanied by my dealer. It's little risky to venture alone there out of capital.

Regarding the question about the pickup, I would venture to say that it is probably Zastava 615B/620B, a license produced Fiat 615 by Crvena Zastava Works in former Yugoslavia.

That country had pretty intensive political, military and economic ties with then Burma (nowadays Myanmar).

Their mutual co-operation was facilitated by trust generated through membership in the Non-Aligned Movement, established in 1961.

The pickup or truck, Fiat 615 was launched in 1951 by Fiat in Turin, Italy.

In 1953, a license version of Fiat 615 was produced as Steyr 260 in Austria. By Steyr.

The Yugoslav producer was named Crvena Zastava (literally: Red Flag). The name is easily fathomable by the fact that in the period 1945-1990, the country was a Communist dictatorship.

So, back to the story, in 1955 the license agreement was signed between Fiat and Crvena Zastava. The production started in 1956.

In 1961, a new version was introduced named Zastava 620B, which was 30 cm longer than Zastava 615B.

Zastava 620B was also offered with crew cabins instead of the usual cabin with two ddors. The crew cabins had three (two doors on the right and one door on the left side) or four doors.

The truck factory itself was situated in Serbia, in the town of Kragujevac.

Some chassies were delivered from Kragujevac to the city of Zagreb, where minibuses were made under the same model name, Zastava 620B.

The production lasted until 1972.

About 30 000 Zastava 615B/620B vehicles were produced, primarily for the domestic market.

As my sources, I have used articles written in Croatian language, which is my mother tongue.
