Splendid effort, KPS! clap:

As Harit pointed out as well, I too have my reservations about some of the car model identifications. Nevertheless, it's your effort here that one needs to look at - good show!

And it also brings memories flooding back, including my collection of the entire range of Tintins and other comics of the time (till the early 80s) that I lost. Bought some of them again at astronomical prices for my daughter - my dad must have cringed too, coz 10 bucks would have meant a lot as well back then! :)

Moving on from automobiles for a bit, this is grouchy, multi-billionaire Lazlo Carreidas proudly showing off his baby from Flight 714. What a read!

Here's a link featuring all the books for somebody who's looking for a quick re-read, just to stir up some of that nostalgia! :)

One of the best threads for Tintin fans on TBHP.

I am a big fan of Tintin comics mainly due to this reason, the perfection and detail of not only cars, but everything in a picture or scene.
Like many others commented on this thread, I can sit for minutes staring at a scene which has a car or bike in it , especially the scene in front of Marlinspike hall which was posted in the previous page which had many cars parked together.
My favourite was the scene in which Tintin and Snowy are hitch hiking on a whisky tanker rail wagon and Snowy gets drunk. Dont remember which one it was. I remember just starting and admiring the details to those loco's and wagons.

As a school goer, I could not collect many of these books due to the cost of one. I have a 3 in 1 digest which was like getting a new toy feeling for me and ended up making a full book by collecting the Tintin strips that used to come in the Week magazine(a regular feature in a Mal's house).

A link for anyone who still reads Tintin and enjoys it,

Where is the Tintin Store in Singapore? Ive only been to the ones in Brussels, Bruges and London. Did not know there was one in Singapore! Glad there is though since this is so near to us. You do get some select official licensed Tintin merchandise in the Entertainment Store on Church Street Bangalore.

The store is located on one of the streets of China Town. Unlike many other stores, this store is simple in appearance but loaded with stuff. The location is also the unlikeliest.

That would be from The Black Island, with Tintin clad in traditional Nordic attire and Snowy drunk on Loch Lomond, the fictitious brand of scotch that Herge had coined.:)

Flight 714 was my first Tintin comic!! clap: then the Crab with the Golden Claws and so on and so forth.

still have them after 29yrs!

a year or so back bought the whole Tintin DVD collection :D

Wonderful effort. Nostalgic. I was a voracious reader of Tintin comics and have desperately collecting them at one time. Missed them somehow when moving to India years back. Going through all these pictures was a great refresher. Great comics, great cars.

Fantastic thread KPS and super inputs by the others. Tintin has always been one of the most entertaining comics and im still collecting it. Coming to the cars, im sure all all car freaks loved the superb car detailing by herge. Good stuff indeed.

Hi, Great collection of comics and fantastic cars here. Tintin has always been a favorite. The comics are timeless. We used to read them and now our children read them today with the same interest.

For more of Tintin comics cars please see this post -

Fantastic ! Thanks for sharing this.

I am and have always been a huge Tintin fan.

Thanks. This is just a wonderful reminder of those lovely childhood days. Time to dig in those comics this weekend. May be catch up one the tv series as well.

ten thousand thundering typhoons! what a wonderful thread. This reminded me of my summer vacations. When i was a kid i used to stencil out the cars from the comic book using carbon paper. You see, i didn't want my skill getting in the way of drawing these beautiful cars :D. I sometimes used to put the carbon paper the wrong way. The marks left behind serve as a reminder to the idiotic things i did when i was a kid. Thanks for the trip down memory lane KPS.

Sir, I'm being greedy. Would you be kind enough to share the PPT, through mail/dropbox link :D?
As much as I loved reading Tintin comics, I spent an equal admiring the cars drawn in them.
Awesome thread!!
