I had been to the old one in September. If that is anything to go by, this new museum will be to die for!!

The old one didnt have too many cars(maybe 10-12) but it still made me so happy. It was an absolute euphoric feeling being in the museum. The location of the old museum is also kickass. You need to walk a little distance close to the factory. You just need to stand outside for a couple of mins and you will see some Porsches being camouflaged and taken for testing.

The parking lot inside is also the best in the world. All you see are Porsches. Cayennes, Boxters, Coxters, 911s, etc... Absolutely a treat to your eyes.

I had the privilege to visit the two automobile museums in Stuttgart, Germany. I am trying to put in pics and info I gathered at the Porsche Museum in this thread.

Porsche built the new museum as a kind of "rolling museum" with rotating exhibits from a stock of 300 restored cars, many in pristine condition and still in full driving order. Originally there was discussion that the new museum would be built alongside a new Mercedes-Benz museum on former trade fair grounds in the Killesberg area of Stuttgart. After the new Mercedes-Benz Museum opened in the east of Stuttgart in 2006, Porsche went ahead with plans to upgrade and extend its museum in the northern district of Zuffenhausen next to the company headquarters. Originally costs were set at 60 million euros but days before the official opening ceremony on 29 January 2009, it was confirmed that the actual costs hit 100 million euros.

The museum is situated in the outskirts of Stuttgart at Porscheplatz, just outside Porsche Headquarters in Zuffenhausen.

The Museum is an imposing structure designed by the architects Delugan Meissl. The concept is based on a model by HG Merz who apparently was also involved in the design of the Mercedes-Benz Museum, also in Stuttgart.

Just to show that Porsche Design can still design cars for other purposes than sporty driving and image elevation, this humble Chinese family car dating from 1994 takes its place amidst the great Porsches. Designed in Weissach in just four months, it was presented at the 1994 Beijing motor show as a proposal to the Chinese government for an inexpensive-to-build, high-quality, safe family car. China demurred, denying Porsche or anyone else the opportunity to produce cars in China on their own. And that name? the C is for China, and 88 is a lucky number in Chinese lore.

Sorry @theragingbull, this is all I have. We were in a rush to visit the MB museum. Yes, this was an experience that I would never forget. Stuttgart is a city every auto enthusiast should visit.

That C88 concept is one of the most hideous looking cars I've ever seen. Can't believe the fact that it's a Porsche!!

Stuttgart is a must visit for any auto enthusiast.
