Re: Vintage Trivia

The current sub zero temperatures in many parts of the US and North America has'nt spared even the classics.

Old Cars Weekly, USA- Car of the Week

1948 two-tone Canterbury Gray Nash Super 600 Brougham was purchased new by a Mr. Ferri. The car has a unitized body with coil springs on all four wheels. It has a L-head 172.6-cid, 82-hp, six-cylinder engine. It is known as a Super 600 because the car has a 30-gallon fuel tank and the vehicle can travel up to 20 miles per gallon — thus the car can travel 600 miles on one full tank of gas.

This car is owned by the Detwiler family since 1950. Mr Cris Detwiler's grandfather bought it in 1950 for US $ 50 as the first owner Mr. Ferri had bashed it up. Eventually, it was immediately repaired. The car is used for at least 1000 miles a year by Mr Chris.

Re: Vintage Trivia

The last Cadillac, a 1976 Seville bought for his personal use and driven by the King of Rock'n Roll, Elvis Presley is up for auction.

During his hey-days in the 1950's and 60's Elvis was known to gift Cadillacs as gum drops to his friends.

A parking lot of the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dacca, Bangla Desh from the 1960's. Almost every car is British ( some VW Beetles, a VW microbus, a Merc truck and may be some more apart) and due to the fact that CBU imports continued long after India had stopped them, we can sight newer cars of the 1960's.

Re: Vintage Trivia

The most common Chevrolets after the Fleetmaster era following the World War II - the Styleline and the Fleetline (1949- 1952) are nicely chronicled on this link:

Indeed our India's nightangle Lata Mangeshkar's first car ever was Styleline Deluxe.

LOOKS LIKE A VINTAGE CAR !

WOOD you take a ride? Chinese carpenter's handcrafted car could go into mass production
The original car built out of wood and powered by an electric engine built by Chinese carpenter, Liu Fulong swept the internet in late 2014

A Chinese carpenter is looking to take his environmentally friendly wooden car into serial production after revealing his first bizarre model last year.

The original car built out of wood and powered by an electric engine built buy Chinese carpenter, Liu Fulong swept the internet in late 2014.
He said: "I had only been tinkering with the idea and after getting so many people interested, I decided to see if I could do the next one quicker and make it better at the same time."

He was bombarded with enquiries by people who wanted to buy it as a result and sought to build a second, more improved car with even more wooden components.

Liu Fulong has been driving the car around the city of Shenyang in northeast China.

The newer version of the car is capable of going for 13 miles on a single charge at a speed of around 30mph.

Fulong originally built the car to show the skills of Chinese carpenters to the world.
He said: ‘It cost me just £1,049 to build my upgraded electric car and apart from the tyres, leather seats, lights, brakes, and engine, everything else is made out of handcrafted wood.

‘This includes the entire body, mirror frames, and the steering wheel.’

With every new model he hopes he can expand the amount of parts made out of wood.

He declined to say how much had been offered for sale of the first car but said he was confident that there was a business to be made in wooden cars.
