Petrol heads of all vintages, uncork the bubbly, for it is the time to welcome the fiftieth anniversary of one of the greatest cars ever : the E type.clap:

The D type happens to be its spiritual inspiration.

Attached is an unadulterated adulation, taken from The Economist.

Thanks issigonis for sharing this enjoyable article. The E type was the masterpiece of British automobile engineering, sitting at the top of a long list of achievements like the Mini, MG spitfire and midget, the XK 120, various Astons, the Lotuses and many many others

The day before the Geneva auto show, we were sight-seeing around the lake.

Suddenly two E-Types drive past. Everyone gets their cameras out.

Soon after, another one goes by, and then another one! And so on...

They had driven down from the UK to celebrate 50 years from where the E-type was first unveiled to the world, at Geneva. Some of the cars were from the Jaguar museum.

Super pictures Rehaan. Had read about this E Type drive online. Youre lucky to have snapped these. By far one of the most beautiful cars ever built. I've seen only one E Type so far and thats in Mumbai.

@issigonis: Great read there

Rehaan,

Outstanding pics! Great opportunism.

The E is as rakish as ever ( see the third pic of the E in profile in black - or is it deep British Racing Green?- and the one at the show).

Dippy,

Scratching my head to remember ever having seen an E in the flesh. Would love to have a look, if that's possible.

Regards, drive safe

The number of E-type's in India is pretty low. A couple are featured here -
Vintage jags.
