Re: Media matter Beyond Borders for Vintage and Classic Cars and Bikes

Living in a large city in Scotland 'Black Hacks' are a common sight on out streets, however I have a friend who drives one for a living and she reckons its long past its sell-by date and a 21st century replacement is long overdue.

Yes, tradition is lovely, but it has its place and as a working tool that's not the place for it. Times have moved forward, people here expect the new generation of private hire cabs to match their needs and Black Hacks just can't keep up sadly - in more ways than one.

Thanks Argyll for the information. Do post pictures of Black Hacks as they are so nicely designed.Such classic lines in today's cars are rare to find.
At one point of time, in the mid 1980's, Standard Motor Products of India Ltd (SMPIL), Chennai, was supplying the Standard Vanguard 4 cyl, 2000 cc, petrol engine for the Black Hacks from India.

Its a beautiful way to spend leisure time viewing these beauties with write-ups from their owners.

Re: Media - Man buried with his 1967 Harley

Here is quite a crazy story of a 82 year old man being buried with his 1967 Harley, as per his last wishes.

Quote:
The body of Bill Standley, secured to his 1967 Harley Davidson, rests inside a plexiglass box before being lowered into the ground at the cemetery in Mutual, Ohio on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014.

But it wasn't easy. The project required an extra-large cemetery plot to accommodate a Plexiglas casket for Billy Standley and his hulking custom-painted 1967 Electra Glide cruiser. Five embalmers worked to prepare his body with a metal back brace and straps to ensure he'll never lose his seat.
