Welcome to Hyderabad. Some of the other specialty Cycling stores in Hyderabad are

1. The Bike Affair (Kondapur)
2. Peddlers Point (Gachibowli)
3. The Yellow Jersey (Punjagutta and 100 ft rd, Ayyapa Society)

Quite a few of the reputed brands are sold in these stores. You may also join the Hyderabad Bicycling Club (HBC) and take part in the different group rides originating from most parts of the city.

All the best !!

Hi fellow BHPians,
Like most of us here I am also an avid cyclist. I own a Hercules Ryders Neo. I must have done close to 2500km since I bought the cycle in August 2013. Planning to get one of those digital odometers. I use the Runtastic Road Bike pro app for all my rides. Hoping to learn from fellow cyclists through this forum.

^^^That's frightfully slow! :D

'Neways- Welcome- and share your opinions and anecdotes.

Almost a month since I got my Giant Roam 3, have ridden around 500 km. Love the bike, looking forward to my first century ride this weekend. My longest ride being 80 km. Had few 50 km rides as well. Any suggestions for preparing for 100k are most welcome. All the various pains in my body (bum, lower back, knee etc) seem to have settled down. Loving riding after a couple of decades.

Oh yeah- What is the route? :D That said- I'll say- take it slowly. Taking breaks at 15 km intervals is a MUST. Plenty of water of course- be kitted up. And yeah remember - "Slow & steady wins the race" :D. If nighttime riding is involved- lights, along with a reflector jacket (if possible!) is a must. Importantly - RIDE SAFE.

Take the padded gel thingy off. Is detrimental.

a. Wake up at 4am, ride out by 4:30/5am on an appropriate traffic free route. Ride with a serious buddy whose faster, if possible. traffic Lights/ vehicles/sun will drain your energy.
b. Carry 2L of water (max nimbu pani) and an electral sachet for backup.
c. Sip water every 10-15km on the move even if you're not thirsty.
d. Don't take breaks till 40-50km. Thereafter, take a break as your body may demand - i'd always suggest one relaxing bigger break than breaks every 15-20km. That's just been my style. Alternatively, if you like stopping to click photos, no need to stop for hydration separately.
e. Minimize eating, esp fried stuff.

I'm assuming you're already well kitted (i.e padded shorts). Do keep a tube of Rashfree just in case, to prevent chafing.

You've ridden enough but do check with other seasoned rides once riding - the seat looks a bit low.

Since I returned back to India, have been looking for such a cycle, a steel frame with internal gear hub. This search is on since a couple of years and I have been unsuccessful till now.

Can anyone of you direct me to brand/model which is being sold with such a combination?

Hi, Internal geared Hub like Shimano or Sturmey Archer is hard to find. Recently I have imported Sturmey Archer 3 speed Hub and retrofitting it to my old BSA SLR bicycle. Project is not completed yet. Here is some photos.

Get an old Raileigh frame and do the needful. Install the Sturmey-Archer gears.

THAT- Is seriously my dream bicycle. Utterly retro- These things were in the vogue in the 'Fifties & 'Sixties. My grandfather used to ride one.

Excellent mod! Loved it! clap:clap:

I ride with the Giant group, we will be doing the Sangamwadi-Shirwal route via New Katraj Tunnel. Let me know if you are interested to join. I am usually the last one of the lot, so am pretty slow already lol:

I do use the padded shorts for all my rides. Thank you for your valuable suggestions, all the points above noted.

Don't know how much comfortable will it be to wear the heart rate monitor belt. Will update after fair usage.

With my old Sigma 12.12

Any questions guys, I will be more than happy to answer

Good investment compared to the Garmins, ecenandu. My friend has the same model. The heart rate band is pretty comfortable except for the occasional beep. He had some issues setting up the cadence sensor. I have the 16.12 STS CAD and quality is top notch. Another friend has the Cateye wireless and it keeps missing data.

Thank you, mail4ajo.

The main reason I went for this is because of the experience with Sigma 12.12, my friend bought a cheaper computer but it keep reseting and won't work properly. Now he is going to use the 12.12.

Strange, even I had an issue while setting up the cadence sensor. No matter how fast I tried moving the magnet over the sensor, the computer was not displaying the cadence. I then mounted on the bike and cranked the pedal hard in the reverse direction, ta da, it started showing cadence.

May be computer waits for a some predefined cadence and then starts displaying? Anyways, its working fine now :D.

What are the upmarket road tires popular for Indian conditions? Need light weight and good puncture protection and ideally 25c for extra comfort. Budget upto to 5K/tire.

Read good reviews on the Conti GP and Schwalbe Ultremo ZX. Conti is not available in 25c. Any other choices?
