Want to share a new beginning..

I am 52 years and has a BTwin Riverside 50 single gear for the past couple of years. Usually do short early morning rides not more than 10 Kms close to my home. Wanted to upgrade to the next level to cover longer distances and was in search for the past few days in Chennai. Montra/Firefox/Schnell were available in my budget of around 25K (Hybrids). For the first time, I was learning about gears, their manufacturers, variations, quality etc.,

Eventually I picked up a Bergamont Helix 1.5i from Track & Trail, Chennai with a Side Stand, rear light, wired lock and a bottle holder.

This was 5K over my budget, but I felt much at ease and the bike felt comfortable and sturdy and hence went for this. Need to slowly study my pattern and add some more accessories like riding gear etc., I already own a simple Helmet and for now, that should cater.

Anyone from Chennai, please connect with me if possible Now that, I am into this, I will go through this Bicycle section more closely as I always wander in the Car and 4x4 sections.

Some of my friends have been using it and they even carry it with them during ride. It's a bit heavy to carry, but seems to be a reasonable options to consider..

I won't carry it on the road myself, but it beats those pumping stations most people have at home

I always use the floor pump, but was forced to use the hand pump recently, when I got a puncture during one of my rides. Fair enough to say, inflating a fresh tube, to even the minimum mentioned pressure (6 bar or so), from the road side, left me fully deflated.

Would always recommend old school pump, albeit a good one. Have bought ICETOOLZ foot pump worth 1600rs ( Sounds overkill, but its in sharing with my friend who is my neighbour )

Went through all the thread headings and hadn't yet come across anything related to parts sources, in particular online.

Looking for a good way to order tyres and other components, not high-end or very low-end... just reasonably priced stuff of good quality. Even if from Taiwan or whatever.

As examples, currently looking for tyres& tubes in 26-29" sizes, 7/8-speed cassette, spokes of various lengths, hubs and brake components, cables, etc.

Have seen some halfway decent Indian-made tyres like Compass and Ralson's more modern thinwall Explorer series (Marco, Vasco, etc) or even Hartex nylon as OE on some brands, but can't find anyplace to buy them online... ₹1000+ for a Ralson on Amazon/Flipkart is not what I have in mind, I can get Kendas locally for that price...

Omobikes doesn't specify their tyre brands but friend ordered and receieved a pair of very nice and very cheap Ralson Explorers... but they don't have any 27.5's or 29's listed.

Decathlon seems to have very little available at present compared with last year.

I understand that much of this may be fallout from Covid, but anyway... with cycling having become so huge, where do people buy things that are a cut above pure desi and yet still affordable? Ebay / Amazon U.S. have probably hundreds of thousands of items listed...

India seems a great market but... where???

Anyone have any leads?
