Even post independence, in 70s I think famous photo journalist Jay Mandal started from India and travelled to many countries by bicycle and ended up in New York.

Have read about him earlier but not able to find any link, below screenshot of his twitter handle also mentions that,

This makes me think, we never knew our heroes. Such acts of adventure must be recorded and shown in museums. Should be taught in schools. May be due to British era, real Indians where not given the credit. We should never forget them. Is there similar escapades with motorcycles too?
