The area I live at is very close to the nature park and bike/jogging trails. And around 20km ride will take you to the seaside; still nothing close to the nature and terrain the outskirts of Pune can offer. But one positive here is that, unless you are on a dedicated MTB trail, the chances of the bike going through a mud fest is minimal

Its a modern western style hyper city bro. The amount of raw naked mud I have seen in India, even in our megapolis metros, I have never seen anywhere else in the world. I think its a great thing. Our cities breathe. And are not suffocated in a cake of concrete on top. And water finds its way deep down.

Hello all,

If not already, can we form a cyclists group on Strava for folks here on team-bhp?

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

Did my first rainy ride. Not a pleasant experience, going up the climb. The goggles fogged up. Sweat mixed up with the rain and ran into my mouth. Mud splashed on my back despite having a mudguard.

Only thing that went well? The Rockbros bag stayed dry on the inside as I pulled out my wallet at a Chai wallah.

Rain did clean up nicely on the way down but overall, I guess I'll just avoid damp days.

You never climb with goggles on. When the sweat starts burning your eyes, simply take out your sipper and squirt water to rinse out your eyes. Helps a lot. You can't ride comfortably otherwise.

Now you know why I don't bother uglifying my bikes with a mudguard.

Cheers, Doc

In my case, sweat trickles down from my eyebrows and into the eyes. I use a wrist band on my left hand to clear the sweat often.

I just wear a sweat resistant band that also lifts my hair up and keeps it out of my eyes (i have longer hair), and that also effectively absorbs any trace of sweat that may drip.

I use the glove (it has a toweled strip on the thumbs for exactly that) or the back of the glove. But it's realy difficult when wearing goggles, because they both prevent access for wiping, as well as channel the sweat via the brow down the nose bridge straight into the eye. Fresh water in my experience is the only way to get relief once the salt has already gone in and the eyes are burning.

I used to do the same. A sweat headband (Decathlon badminton one) or a helmet skull cap. But it's only tolerable for me in the winters. Rest of the year I overheat with them on, so I choose the wind and cooling and try dealing with the sweat as above.

Cheers, Doc

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

Went on to my newly discovered route but there was unexpectedly heavy truck traffic. After getting pushed off the road I abandoned ship and changed course midway.

Not a fault of trucks though, the side-patti is literally 6 inches on that patch while the shoulder is all gravel and mud with a sudden drop of 3-4 inches. Hybrid cycle with thin tyres really can't handle that drop.

Anyhoo, that made me go into a village with good but extremely narrow rural road. Thankfully no traffic and I emerged right by the tank museum.

The Triban flat bar is built for such roads, fear not.

I'm dying to see photos of your beauty in these beautiful rural surroundings without that mudguard man ....

Cheers, Doc

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

Went for a short ride to change my cycle's brake shoes. Then got stuck up in rain. But after 30mins, sky opened up and this is how it looked. Changed both front and rear brake shoes to ASHIMA. This is made in Taiwan and a pair costed Rs 245/-. While changing the rear brake shoes the mechanic observed that there was minor "dug" in the rear wheel & he promptly fixed it.
