Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

Had a great cycling experience in and around Mysuru. Great weather, super roads, less traffic and better behavior of road users towards cyclists.

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

The month of July-2022 ended on a very refreshing note. Yesterday had a chance to venture on the Maval Parikrama - Khandi Ride organized by MAA (Maval Athletes Association). The registration for the ride was free. Superb arrangements were done by MAA (morning tea-buiscuits during flag off at 6am & breakfast - Poha, Wada-paav & tea at 8am).

Maval region of Pune at its best in during the monsoons (you can gauge from the pics below). Numerous waterfalls, streams, dam backwaters, mountains, paddy fields, lovely winding road and lush greenery everywhere. What else can any rider ask for in a ride. It had all the fun. Morning weather was awesome, with light showers in between, but around noon time it became too sunny and hot. Newbies in the ride got exhausted completely. We kept ourselves well hydrated, else it would have been pretty tough.

I knew, I would get many nice picturesque spots throughout the ride, hence gave preference to my Hybrid Marin Fairfax SC1 over the new steed Scott Addict 30, because the hybrid has a stand, which I could pull down at any spot, poor Scott doesn't have that luxury. So the Scott had to relinquish in the garage.

Vow, this is such a beauty

The reflection of mountains and the woods in the lake is photo frame material.

At the risk of going off topic on this thread, I'm adding more pix from the same place.

Mind-blowing pics there 14000rpm, thanks for sharing

Why do you think this could be off topic? The thread title says "Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!" & you had been to this place on your bicycle, haven't you? It doesn't matter if your bicycle is not in the frame, but all this fun and beauty of nature you could admire only because of your bicycle. So keep sharing.

Pan Mass Challenge: Wellesley Century Ride

Yesterday I rode the PMC Wellesley Century, a 100 mile ride that started from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. PMC is one of the biggest fundraising rides in US, where 100% of the funds raised by the riders go to cancer research. The registration fee that the riders pay, as well as thousands of volunteers goes into organizing the rides.

Although this is my 3rd year with PMC, it was the first time that I rode an official PMC route. The experience was unlike any other ride I have ever done. There were people scattered all over the 100 mile route, young and old, families with little children, cheering the riders on and thanking them for riding and raising the funds. That in turn made me even more thankful to all those who contributed to my fundraising efforts. It didnt matter that it was an extremely hot and humid day. There were riders around me who have been riding in the PMC for more than 10, 15 years and many of them carried photos of their loved ones that they had lost to cancer.

This was the most humbling ride for me. And I will be back next year.

Cheers.

Great cause and ride! Congratulations. Good average speed too. How is the terrain in the area?

Thanks, Amol.

Terrain was quite mild. The climbs, if any, were very gentle. I use Wahoo Elemnt Roam GPS and on one of its screens it shows the elevation profile over the next 2 miles (configurable to longer ranges). Anything between 0%+ to 4% gradient is shown as green, 4% to 8% is yellow, 8% to 12% is red and 12%+ is black. Over the 100 miles, there was maybe one or two short sections that went above green, whereas on my routine morning route, I hit the red zones at least 6 to 7 times

That is a useful function. I was wondering about Garmin edge 530 vs Wahoo bolt v2 but not sure if either of them are worth spending that much dough for a novice biker like me.

Your regular route sounds like Seattle. On my way home I have two hills that say 10% gradiant on the road sign and my GPS shows it dipping below 9 as well as going above 11 at some spots. Those are the biggest hurdles for me to get out everyday and ride.
I only hit rolling flats after griding 4 miles of hills
The gravel bike that I bought recently from someone earlier based in Chicago got tired of hills here in a month and sold it for that only reason. He bought an E-bike to assist on hills

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

Last week did a small round around NDA, Pashan circle, Kothrud and back home around 30 Kms.
Moonsoon has really changed the colours to lush green and what a sight it was at NDA to see the Peacock in its full glory!

Cheers.

In my first couple of years of biking, I used my phone as my gps and I was quite happy with it. After experimenting with a few cheap phone mounts, I decided to buy the QuadLock, which was totally worth it.
The only reason I switched to Wahoo was battery life and the all-weather ruggedness.
I'm not sure but can you pair a heart rate monitor and a cadence sensor with Strava or RideWithGPS apps on your phone and get real time data?
