81 kms actually. Forgot to switch on the timer a couple of times after a break. My left knee aches but not as badly as last week. For the next few weeks i will limit myself to 50kms in total.

Damn good thread and equally good ride Red! 80 km! Man your not doing justice by riding once a week.

Here's my half century salvage ride from last night, in pouring rain. Having missed (slept through all my 5 min alarms!) my morning ride. Bith Mula and Mutha are in spate with the torrential downpour of the last week, and water being released regularly from the near overflowing Khadakwasla dam.

Here's a video of me on the Alandi bridge, which is about to go under (probably did later in the night).

Yup, that was my turnaround point. I actually went ahead of the bridge to the base of the ghat (not safe at night due to roaming biptyas ... leopards), and turned around from there only to reach the bridge and find a commotion ...

Usually I take my little one along and she usually likes a lot!
I only do casual rides typically less than 10-12 kms.

Went to Yellagiri for a two day holiday and found some great scenic cycling routes including the climb. Best part was very little traffic.

My cycling shoes got pummeled in the rain earlier this week. Even stuffed with newspapers and put before a tablefan, they would not dry before the next ride.

Here they are after 3 days of drying ...

Nothing worse than putting your toasty early morning feet into a nasty cold wet shoe. Probably as bad as putting on wet tights. Uggggh.

So now like many of my pro ultradistance randonneur friends I've started riding in my desi Birkenstock's (Decathlon hiking sandals). The grip from the sole is surprisingly good, and once you get over the initial shock of tge cold muddy water from the front tyre, the feet are surprisingly comfortable (after a few stops along the way to adjust individual straps).

These really come into their own on long all day rides and multi day rides through the rain, where riders start suffering from soft feet, soaked all day in waterlogged shoes and wet socks. With these you feet dry up instantly the moment you get a dry patch. If not, at least the feet are not waterlogged and getting shrivelled up

P.S. We really should have a thread to exhibit our cycling wear. Jerseys. Shorts. Bibs. Socks. Warmers. Gilets. Windcheaters. Buffs. Helmets. Shoes. Sandals. Gloves. Goggles. Helmet caps. Cycling caps. Base layers. Even chamois cream and alternatives.

I actually thought of it after posting the post. Blame a slow 50 year old on a rained out Sunday morning. Slowness reigns pervasive. Deliciously so.

I thought of making the thread myself but I do not know how to move my post.
