I have booked a S cross alpha nexa blue colour.. I'm expecting delivery by the week end.. Meanwhile I have got the following message
Dear Customer, FASTag 170***** for Vehicle No. MA3FNEB1S00190442 has been assigned to your FASTag account No. *****. What does the no MA3FNEB1S00190442 mean.?

This is the VIN for your car. Vehicle Identification Number also referred as Chassis Number.

I know it's VIN. But how do I decode it!

When 10th and 11th number is zero then look for two more numbers after VIN in engine bay. There will be a star before these two numbers. It will give you the manufacturing date.

11th character denotes Year of Manufacture & 12th character denotes Month of Manufacture, so it is April 2018:
J = year 2018
T = month April

Is there any change to the VIN number template, especially Maruti ?
As per team-bhp threads, we should be looking at the 10th and 11th characters which are now 00.

Any experts here ? it might benefit everyone

If you open the bonnet, there are additional two alphabet which tell the month and year as mentioned in decode page

It's April 2018 as per this App, I have used this app to decode my bike and car manufacturing months and it has turned out to be right.

Thanks mate. It sure sounds good to know its April. The dealer had informed me that they have picked up the car based on my booking and its not a yard stock. So this VIN information is reassuring.

Edit: I have decoded it and it turns out to be MAY 2018 although I am not sure, that's why providing the VIN here. Should i go ahead with the purchase? Although the SA promised that it would be a June 2018 one. Please advise.
