However, I needed the month of manufactur and also clear distinction between year of manufacture and model year. With 10th alphabet being L, it was clear it is a 2020 year model. The Zs are also confusing me as they don't fit into the nomenclature that has been noted for VW cars in this thread.
Hi tristis,

Since the T-Roc is an import, the VIN would co-relate to the country of manufacture which would be Portugal in this case. Co-Relating to the VIN system in Portugal, I believe this car is a January 2020 manufactured one (7th letter - A), though I'm not very sure. All other BHPians, please help here.

The difference between model year & manufacturing year has been mentioned in this thread elsewhere, I cannot find it currently

Indeed. Did you check the car and VIN personally? The sizing and orientation of Zs in the picture seems to be bit off when compared to rest of the digits.

You can also get in touch with member "cpabhijit" who had booked a T-Roc in June and posted a VIN in the T-Roc thread which started with "WVWG..." and not "WVGZ.." like in your case.

Indeed, the Zs seems to be out of place compared to others. It is not so exaggerated in original picture as its here. Nonetheless VIN of T Roc bought by Harneet.S has same sequence except the last six numbers. I will check with cpabhijit as well.
