I too confused, Have to analyze other sample VIN's too till that time you have to wait. Don't know whether TATA too changed their VIN pattern.

Hi Wildon

First of all a very big thank you for the thread. Its of immense help, especially for us new buyers.

I am buying ANHC. The dealer has given me two VINs to choose from. The VINs are:
MAKGM252KBN216972
MAKGM252KBN216680
Using your guide, i have decoded that this is a Oct 2011 vehicle.

Could you pls help with the detailed VIN report, so that it would be easier to decide which of the two cars should be bought?

A quick response would be very very helpful, as i need to get the car in a day or two.please:

@test.subrat, from the VIN's you indicated, both seems identical, except for the serial number of the vehicle. To me, Serial number means order of production. Wildon may throw some more light on that, but you can choose any vehicle after carrying out detailed inspection, if your dealer allows(he should) before proceeding for billing. Above VIN's clearly suggests car manufactured in the same month, day being different(6972 should've been made after 6680). Cheers & congrats for your new machine in advance.:)

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

I'm being offered generous discounts on a Fabia 1.6 Elegance. I'm guessing since it's the end-of-year sale, that's the reason for the discount. I get to decide the colour of my choice too!
However, how do I make sure that I'm not being sold a test-drive car?
E.g. If I am to go for a PDI at the yard TODAY, what should I expect the month of manufacture of the car to be?

Can someone shed some light on this please?

Thank you! :)
