Skoda is allotting me a Skoda Superb VIN No. TMBBBM3T3BA303710. Could anyone please give me information of Manufacture date. THNX in advance.

Hi wildon

This is for my VW Jetta:

- as per VIN the manufacturing date is Apr 2011 (you had kindly given me the decoded pdf)
- as per Form 21 it is Nov 2010
- as per invoice it is Apr 2011

Now the RC book mentions it as Nov 2010. I am totally confused! Which one is correct? I would like to have the correct Mfg date mentioned in registration particulars. What should I do?

Well mine was also a December 2011 made Superb, but my RC book shows it as FEB 2012 made vehicle. Long live Skoda (dealers) manipulations and this is when I once again realised "It happens only in India".

In that case what happens to your insurance? In your example - Bharti AXA people would say that they would calculate it only from 2011 and not 2012. Bajaj is asking me to have it changed on the RC book!

As the car was purchased in March 2012, that is not an issue here.

My purchase is in June 2011. First year insurance company was ok quoting 2011. But now as the RC book is showing mfg. date as Nov 2010 they are creating issues.

I think I didn't clarify properly. My RC Book, Insurance, Billing, Form 21 & 22, all are mentioning Year as 2012. Only the confidential report I got from Wildon mentions the exact Date of manufacturing as December 2011.

Checked Form 22. Info required to be disclosed are:

Brand
Chassis no.
Engine no.
Sub-rule no
Emission norms

No date is required to be mentioned under any of the heads. The only clue I have is a certificate serial number that ends in "11". And date of issue at bottom that says 15 Apr 2011.

Can this certificate be issued prior to date of manufacture?

In my case as per VIN date of mfg is 22 Apr 2011. And date as mentioned in invoice is 29 Apr 2011.

So I have 4 different dates as Form 21 says Nov 2010.

Dealer is saying that VIN with "10" (WVWL101K5AA554883) means it is manufactured in 2010. Please help.

The report generated and the point you made are true. The actual production date is what you mentioned, but on your RC Book it will be mentioned as its a NOVEMBER 2010 make vehicle.

How fast one can forget

So looks like the the sequence is as under:

1. car is assembled from CKD - in my case Nov 2010
2. VW issues the pollution certificate in form 22 - in my case 15 April 2011
3. VW sells to dealer, issues invoice - 29 April 2011
4. VW sells to me, issues form 21 on 6 June 2011

Surprising that the assembled unit was lying at factory for 6 months and another 3+ months at dealer.

Wildon, How do you find the Date of manufacture. I read your posts and figured out how to decode the year and month of manufacture for Mahindra XUV 500.. Is it also possible to find out the Date of Manufacture for Mahindra vehicles?
