Thanks alam for clarifying that bit. I was under the notion that those information could be pulled out from the VIN

Did the PDI yesterday and was satisfied with what i saw. Delivery tomorrow. Time will tell I guess.
Apparently with the petrol variants it is the norm now to get cars several months old as the demand is much lower.

How do i identify the date of manufacture. As per your previous post the 19 to 22 digits would specify the date of manufacture.

What other details can be deciphered from the VIN.

The car is on it's way from Chennai factory is what I've been told - i've had a pleasant interaction with the dealership so far, hope your VIN decoding reinforces the same!

I feel generaly AT's are produced much less than their manual variants. And so you will probably be able to get a fresher MT model than an AT one.
Do a thorough PDI, download the PDI checklist from Team-BHP. If you are not happy with it then ask for another example. Good Luck!

Hi Wildon,
My friend is buying a Cruze LTZ, but he was disappointed that the VIN number shows it is a Feb 2011 model.

The vin number is MA6JFDHDBBH016949 .

We went to the other Chevy dealer, and even there all models seem to be Feb manufactured models. Are we right in inferring that the above is a Feb model?

We'd appreciate an early response.

Sorry Wildon,

Looks like the above brouhaha on vin was a false alarm. Your thread does shed some light on pages 13 to 14. It looks like Chevy has changed the VIN pattern from Feb 2011, after which the 7th letter is the month, not the 9th.

Going by the above, the Cruzes we saw today were all Aug, 2011 models.

What a relief!!
