Ask your SA to give the full chassis number, so that you can get the month also which is really matter while registering your vehicle at RTO. Also i suggest you to physically check the same on your vehicle before accepting the deal.

If the last character is M then it can only register as December 2012 Make, if its saying A then it can be registered as January 2013 vehicle.

Hey Wildon,

As per ur suggestion and Tbhp PDI checklist, I went to do a pre-registration check and checked under the seat and invoice. Indeed the last character is A in the VIN under the drivers seat. All smiles.

I am able to determine the 'Year of Manufacture' but have been struggling to decipher the Month.

Can you please decode this and also mention how do I determine the Month on a Hyundai car from a VIN, which of late, has only 17 digits as oppose to an earlier 19 digits.
