Date car rolls off assembly line/body manufacture and date of engine assembly/manufacture are often not linked nor even close together depending type of assembly lines the company has.

I can understand that 'C' stand for year 2012. But what is the 'N' doing as the 12th character of the VIN? Month of December is represented by 'M'. Has there been any change in TML's VIN format?

Correct, At present i don't know the way to get Date of manufacture of TATA vehicle.
