I've recently bought the Ecosport. As per VIN Number, my car is manufactured in 06/2013, but the sales tax forms submitted to the local RTO during temporary registration shows the manufacturing date as 02/2013.

I've pointed this out to the dealership and they're saying that the problem is from the RTO side (the online system derives the manufacturing date from VIN number). They're saying that if I need to get that fixed, the whole correction process will take 2-3 months, and final registration is to be done only after that. I can't wait until then because I'm planning to travel out of state.

Whose problem is this? Did the dealership enter the wrong manufacturing date into the RTO systems, or is the problem from the RTO side? The dealer is urging to go ahead with registration ignoring this problem, citing that during resale, only the manufacturing year that matters, not the month. Is that true?

What can be done at this stage?
