I got a 1.5 months old car, if the piece of paper I found inside the glove box could be believed. The date read 8th July, while I got allocation on Aug 23.

One of my beliefs is that the car was initially allocated to somebody else first and the deal probably did not go through.

In TAI somebody got a May manufactured car in Sep. It is best to stop worrying and enjoy the car.

What variant is yours? 2 months should not be an issue at all.
My friend got a May manufactured Titanium ecoboost allocated in September and had multiple followups with the Dealer and Ford India, to understand the reason.

What Ford says is the VIN number is generated before the car goes into the assembly line for a lot of backoffice documentation required by Ford / Government. In some particular cases, where the documentation work gets stuck for some reason, the VIN date does not reflect the manufacturing date.

In my friend's case he got a written communication from Ford that the vehicle was directly retailed by the dealer from the plant and the date when the vehicle was billed to the dealer (which was september) to give him some peace of mind.

We can speculate on a lot of reasons from vehicle not clearing the initial QC to the vehicle getting sourced from some other dealer, but the best thing to do as you have mentioned in the end is to stop worrying and start enjoying the vehicle. Especially when so many people are still patiently waiting for their prebooked cars.

Mine is a Titanium (0) TDCi, mars red. Thanks for posting the explanation given by dealer and Ford India, infact even my Vento was 2 months old when i took delivery, was a little surprised in case of Ecosport since its flying off the shelves.

I have a Honda MAKGG172FCN204270. I tried to register on Honda owners website but it got notified as an invalid VIN. I did some research and tried replacing the check digit F with 6, still invalid. As fas as I understand the 2nd character is the problem.

Any views.

An Example:

I have a question regarding the number of characters in a VIN of Toyota cars. My Etios came with 21 characters only, checked many times. Recently I sold my Etios and bought an Innova, which also came with 21 characters only.

Have TKM dropped a digit from VIN or am I missing something.

There is no point in trying your VIN in international site as the VIN decoding differs from there to here.

Innova VIN : 0813 = August 2013 manufactured.

The 22 character includes the Special Character which you have mentioned ~ or * or X .

May be in Etios they are not using the Separator or Special character in between.
