As per the first page decoding guidelines:

4th letter - 'D' = April
5th & 6th letter - '1 & 4' = 14
10th letter - 'E' = 2014 (Model Year).

It is a April 2014 car. Replacement for the Ritz eh?!

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Hi VIN Experts,

Need to decode the VIN of the Hyundai Grand i10 which my office colleague recently bought. Its a 17 character VIN as against the 19 character which I read in this thread.

How I wish I could help you out with this one!

But unfortunately, I can decode only Hyundai VINs, thanks to Hyundai's online tool which I posted a couple of pages before. I'm completely clueless about 17-character Maruti Suzuki VINs.

My apologies for not being able to assist you on this.

I think our expert Wildon can decode it, but he hasn't posted in a long time. We're kind of worried about this - I hope everything's well with him.

You need the last two numbers of the VIN number. What you've posted is the 17 digit chassis number. Usually under the bonnet, there should be the same number followed by a special character and then two additional numbers/letters. Those are what you need.

Try looking for the last two characters after the 17 digit code like one found in the below image:

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Hi there Wildon, I recently booked a Nissan Terrano and the VIN sent to me was MDHHSNA36E2006527. I think I've decoded it to be a February 2014 Manufactured Car. Could you please send me a PDF detailed report? Thanks in advance!!!!

Yes as per the decoding method on the first page it is March 2014 manufactured.

10th VIN character is E, then it represents the Year 2014
11th VIN character is 3, then it represents the Month of March

Check it the documents thoroughly before proceeding.
