Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

We have booked a Mobilio 2 months back. Can anyone help in finding where the VIN would be located? Also how do we make sure that the dealer is not selling a Demo / TD car ( since the car itself is relatively new )?

Thanks in advance

Look around the suspension struts to have the VIN embedded or on the quarter glass around pasted on a small paper.

Check the odometer and to drive it to know whether it was used for a TD or no. You'll have indication of marks from the door sill guard, pedals, tyres.

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Folks - I booked a Polo TSI and my VIN is WVWH14600FT021324

This corresponds to year 2015 (?!) and month August, but the link posted by Wildon to check VIN online http://igorweb.org/vindec/default.aspx says the car is a VW Corrado, produced at Taubate (BR)!

Can someone help?

Cheers,

To clarify, I understand that this is a July 2014 manufactured Pajero sport, curious to see if we can get a PDF report or any additional details. Thanks again.

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Dear All,

Kindly help me with this VIN for Honda City : MAKGM8583E4000070

MAK - Honda

GM8 - Not SUre

58 "3" - Ideally the ninth character should be an alphabet to know the month of manufacture however in this case its a number, so iam lost here.

"E" 40 - E = 2014 so this is clear.

Kindly help me to know the rest of the code particularly the month of manufacture color etc..,.

Thanks a Lot in advance.

cheers,
pdma

Hi RSR,

My uncle has booked a Hyundai i10 Sportz. He has received a 17 digit VIN from the dealer. However it should be a 19 digit to identify the manufacturing month.

The VIN is MALAM51BLEM587892

I am able to decode the year of mfg to be 2014 but nothing more.

I tried the Hyundai website link you gave but no avail.

Can you help on this

Thanks

Srinath

I'm sorry for being a bit late to reply, srinath34.

Yes, the 17-character VIN is the one on the window label and this is the number that salespeople provide. The 19-character one is stamped on the metal panel under the driver's seat.

The year of manufacturing is indeed 2014.

Here are the basic details for the VIN you provided:

Date of manufacture - August 23, 2014
Colour - Wine Red

IHMIPPA11 I10 11(INDIA PLANT-INDIA)
ENGINE : IE62(G4HGEM844891)
T/M : SL07(ME1671117505)
INTERIOR : B1 (SUB MAT(PKG1))
EXTERIOR : W5R (WINE RED)
SEDAN - 5DR 5P
1100 CC - EPSILON
SOHC - MPI
GASOLINE - UNLEADED
MANUAL T/M - 5 SPEED 2WD

I'll send you a PM with the complete details of the car.

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

I booked a Mahindra e2o and the vehicle is allotted yesterday. VIN is MB7D8RXBBEJJ10639.

I tried decoding it and the year of manufacturing is Sep, 2014.

However I couldn't decode the complete VIN from the instructions provided on this thread. Could someone help me with decoding the entire VIN.

Thanks in advance.

Same here. I don't think that link is updated for new models (says last update was in Oct 2013), so definitely not reliable.

Hello Again ,

The earlier VIN I posted here was provided to a friend of mine who is expecting to take the delivery of Honda City Sv IDtec early next week.
Now after insisting that the 9th character is expected to be an alphabet and not a number as provided earlier , the dealer accepted the mistake and gave the following VIN :MAKGM858JE4000070.

This time the 9th character is J however J = October , which left me blank again as how can they deliver an October manufactured car in September.

When questioned the dealer on this , they insisted that this is the correct number and they gave it in writing as well to my friend in the official confirmation e-mail.

Anyways he is planning to complete the PDI over this weekend , however Iam still lost in this case.

Anybody has any idea if Honda changed the convention,

Kindly pitch in to help.

Cheers,
pdma.
