PS: Not sure of accuracy.
Yes, it is supposed to be manufactured in 2016 as the dealer says. He is trying to sell it to me and I just want to be double sure. The details on the below link says the following

Delivery date 26 02 2016
YOM as 15/1

So I am confused if it is a 2015 or 2016.

(When I click on one of the links it even says Date From as 2014-09)

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Hi friends
I have booked a car in December. However the factory /dealer is offering me a March 2016 model. This was checked by me as per VIN no.
However the dealer claims that he has the builders certificate and in the RC book the date will be Dec.2016. and warranty will also start from Dec. 2016.
My question here is that as per VIN the vehicle is March built but RC book it will be December so it that illegal by any way?
Also when selling the car will it affect the price ?

Which car is it? If its some low selling car, chances are that you'll get a older manufactured vehicle and you can't do much about it. If not, check why was it not sold for so many days. If there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, you can take it with a bargain for greater discounts
RC (at least in Karnataka) mentions Manufactured date (march2016 in your case) a registration date(December or January whenever you register it)
So there is nothing illegal about it. In olden "RC Book" days, Manufactured date was not mentioned, so a January registration usually would fetch more resale value.
Warranty should start from the purchased date.

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Hi,

I had booked a GT TSI in November, and after a harrowing and long wait, the dealer has finally decided to assuage my nerves and forward the VIN

The VIN is: MEXM16604HT104176

I was able to deduce from the code, that it is a December 2016 production (M-16).

However, the tenth letter (H in this case) corresponds to 2017 Model.

Here's my doubt - How am I getting a car in 2016 whose VIN clearly points it to being a 2017 model? Could someone decode it and let me know?

Thanks!

Hi Grand Drive,

I have booked a Kwid today and below is the VIN assigned. I was able to decode it and it is a November 2016 vehicle (correct me if I am wrong). Is there a way I can get the detailed report for this VIN? I am not able to find it online.

Thank you, Grand Drive. The site gave me some info, but i am not sure if it is 100% correct. eg: The car i selected was supposed to be grey, whereas the site showed me that it was black. Similarly, in the other cars the colour was different. It may well be that the dealer has given me the form 22 of a different colour or that the VIN colour codes have changed. Which of it is right becomes the question.

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Hi BHPians,

I have finalize my vehicle today, whether I want to go ahead or not.

Please if you can help decoding the following VIN
MEEHSRCFNGA000090.

10th character "G" translates to 2016, that I could gather, but I am unable to gather what is denoted by 11th character "A", is it October or December. If it is October then is it okay to go for it now or should I avoid it.

This is for a Duster AWD.

Thanks in advance,

T-Rex

Congrats! It's October 2016 model. The tenth character 'G' represents the year 2016 and the eleventh character 'A' represents the October month.

Sorry, grand Drive. The Form 22 sent to me were for showing compliance to BS IV and were not of the final vehicles selected.
Sorry about that.
