'07 Toyota Camry : How do I connect my iPhone?

Hi all,

Finally I got my dream car the Camry 2.4 Automatic New Shape 2007 Dec home yesterday.

You can read about my buying experience and see a few pictures in this thread.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/luxury...buy-one-2.html

In my Scorpio I just have a Cassete to Stereo Pin Connector, which I use to connect my Iphone to the OEM System that came along. I Plug in the headphone pin into the Iphone, and the cassette into the stereo. With this I can play all the music in my Iphone. When an incoming call comes in, the music fades out, and the phone conversation happens through the Car Audio and the built in Mic. When the call ends, the music simply fades in.
This is really great.

Now for the Question.
I need a similar setup for my Camry.
I need to Connect my Iphone to the Camry Audio System. How do i do it ?
It has a CD Player, and a Radio, but I do not see any Aux in.
I dont think there is a bluetooth either.
I thought that a New Generation Car would have compatibility with the Iphone, but I am completely lost now.

Anybody has any ideas ?

Styler

Hi Akshay,
You have been a great help through all this, I cant thank you enough.
Your Advice is always welcomed.
This place seems to have the Interface with the US Camrys with Navigation pre-installed.
I can just do with an Aux in. I'm looking for a solution locally.
Styler.

That just connects to a port on the back of your stock HU. So it charges your ipod and will give you song names etc on the screen of your HU. It does not need factory navigation or anything. The model you would be looking for is PA15-TOY. I wouldn't recommend you do any jugaad and get an aux attached. If not this, then just get an Fm transmitter for your iPhone though the quality will not be as good as a wired connection.

Yes, it seems this is what I exactly want. PA15-TOY.
It retails for about $ 120-130 in US. I wonder if it would be available in India.
If I cant find it in India, I will order it in US, my sis is coming in July, she'll carry it for me.

Thanks

Hey akshay thanks for the link!

I see they have one for the Accord as well. Have you given it a try?

Re: '07 Toyota Camry : How do I connect my iPhone?

Hi

Thanks to akshay1234, I bought the PA15-TOY at Ebay USA
It costed me $ 100

Now I am greedy, and I saw some nice DVD-TouchScreen GPS Systems for Camry sold on Ebay by vendors in Hongkong. They cost around $ 350 for a good Original Camry Shape System with a 8" Touchscreen, GPS, DVD Ipod Connectivity.

I suppose if they say IPOD Connectivity, Iphones will be compatible too.
I want to know if somebody knows a good place in Delhi / India to buy these ?

Another option is to get a FM Transmitter for your Iphone. And set your car stereo on that FM frequency.

Something like this perhaps.
Buy FM Transmitter With Remote For iPhone | Lowest prices on Electronics at Rediff Shopping.

Hi AbhiJ,

I have tried these, they give very poor sound quality.
Nothing to mach a cabled connection.
The biggest disappointment with a Luxury Car like Camry 2007 for me was the absence of even an Aux Input.

I guess I will just install the PA15-TOY to get an Aux and Iphone Connection to the Camry OEM music System. It is a 6 CD Changer, and Radio with very good sound quality.

The only issue in my mind is now where to get the Aux and Iphone Cables from the PA15-TOY out from behind the Center Console.

There are no Dummy Hole Points that I can see.

Re: '07 Toyota Camry : How do I connect my iPhone?

Okay I've got my PA15TOY with a cable for Iphone Input, and it also has 2 RCA in for line in.
Now to get the Aux in Port in the panel somewhere, I need a cable which has 2 X RCA on one end (PA15 TOY end) and a female stereo pin jack on the other end. The stereo AUX in has to be fixed on the Panel somewhere. It should have a ring with threads or something so that it can be fixed securely on the panel.
I have been able to find a 2 X RCA to Female Stereo Cable but that cannot be fixed on the panel.
Any Ideas where I can get this ?

Re: '07 Toyota Camry : How do I connect my iPhone?

Your friendly neighborhood electronics repair store! Or go to Lajpatrai Market. The female jack socket comes as a miniature cube like component with the socket ('jack' is the male pin) at one end and 3 pins sticking out the other. The socket end is a threaded tube with a knurled ring for fixing on the panel.

Buy a 2 RCA (male) to 3.5mm jack cable (fairly commonly available at mobile and electronics stores). Cut the jack off and strip the cable about 1.5". Solder the shield to the shield contact (usually the top terminal - you can check with a multimeter for continuity between the terminal and the threaded tube). Then solder the other 2 wires (should be a red and a black one, but could be other color too) to the other 2 terminals on the socket. Usually the red wire is R channel and the black wire the L.

Mount it either on a spare switch location, or in a convenient but out of sight place below the dash. Route the wire internally and connect with the RCA female sockets on the 'TOY!

@Styler - Will this same thing work for the Fortuner? What is the cost and method you used to get it here? Do the steering controls work with this on your camry?

I am reasonably sure it will work for the Fortuner too. And yes the steering controls should work too.
