Didn't really get it subodh! please: If the woofer developed a problem why did you decide "NOT" to replace it. May be its a typo. Just clarifying stupid:

Good lord Subodh! You just dont stop, where it comes to music, do you? Dont get the sub. The one failed, is an indicator enough. The way it sounds now, is pretty good.
In case you really want to, why not that second one we had tried that time. Dont remember the make now.

@Samridh: No. It wasnt a typo. That is how the incident took place. He hadnt paid for the woofer. It was on a trial basis. So, the decision was to NOT replace it.
How do I know? Well, I was present when the work was done!

Yeah the speakers in this car sucks and since there are no warranty issues, you can definitely go for a change. I had installed a sub woofer some time back. I was not too sure if I wanted to sub in the car but the guy said try it for couple of days and if u don't like it, get it back. Fortunately for me on the third day, the woofer developed some problem and I decided not to replace it. But now I am again getting an urge to install it. Any recommendations ?

Well I'm no expert in these matters, so can't really give you any recommendations.

But I generally keep it simple.
For me the current speakers are do-able. Enough for my current requirements. I'm more interested in the engine (mods) than the music system for now. Once I have had enough of the car (which is highly doubtful :D), I'll start exploring the music options.

@swanand, I doubt if it works like that. With music systems, I have always found it's either a yes or no.

Btw if you need another guy to help try & decide among the various choices, I'm all ears :D

THe urge for better music never dies swanand :) The otherone was rockford make and it sounded pretty good. Only problem with that one is that it is 12" woofer instead of 10" which i was looking at. I guess another round at Bhandari is due to make decision. lol:

Samridh, when i went to get woofer installed, I was not sure if I wanted to get one or not. Once i went there, I was not convinced what kind of sound i wanted, the depth of the woofer or the brightness. I heard around 4 to 5 woofers and by the end of it, I was kind of inclined towards one woofer but not 100% sure. so the guy suggested that test it for couple of days and then make your decision. After one days use, the woofer developed some problem. One of the wires had a problem and it gave "phata hua" sound. When i went back to accessories guy, he told me that there is some problem with the woofer and it needs to be replaced but he didnt have same one in stock and I would have to wait. at the point, I told him I will come later on when I am 100% ready and that point has not come yet.

Ninja, for me music comes primary as I am a musician :) and then comes the engine Mods.

So finally, I found out your thread! clap:

Must congratulate you on the details shared, of the install. Gives us novices some insight into ICIing rides.

Would you recommend to me a certain set where a balance between the mids, highs & lows is equally good.. ?
I know you would like a concert setup.
I'm in for the club effect, if you know what I mean..

Thanks in advance mate:thumbs up

Since this thread is back from purgatory, let me ask this; what happened to the sub-woofer addition plan? And for that would you need an additional amp?

The additional sub is on horizon but I might be going for another vehicle. If I end up doing that, then i would configure that system with a sub first.
If that does not happen, then I will go for sub in this car.
To answer second part of your question, yes technically In theory I would require a mono amp to run the sub. But another way I can do it is run the 2 components on same channels and install sub in remaining channel. The trade off in this kind of situation is that I lose on the fader feature but at the same time, I save on cost and I gain control over the sub woofer. Suppose if the sub is installed instead of front speakers, then when I move my settings for front speakers and increase the intensity of front speakers, the gain on subwoofer increases and vice versa.

In such a configuration, where both your component sets are being fed from the same 2 channels, isnt there there some loss or noise issues?

None what so ever. No losses and no noise issues. Infact I am using my system in same configuration even right now as I had installed the subwoofer some time back. Reminds me to install subwoofer Everytime I try the fader function. But now it works favourable other way for me. Since the gain from amp is on higher side, when my father sits in the car, I can control the gains through my fader balance function as he likes the sound to be very low
