Sony CDX V5800 or Pioneer P1Y ?

I recently bought a Sony CDX V5800.
Now I'm in a Dilemma.....
My y friend is selling his Pioneer P1Y for 10k with steering remote.

Should I sell the Sony and buy the Pioneer instead.
Lots of people have been praising the P1Y lately. So can anyone help me out.

What will be the pros and cons of buying the Pioneer HU???
(or is the Sony good enough???)

in my opinion sony hu produce sound which is loud across all frequencies. pioneer is way way way better than sony. incidentally i got myself the american cousin of p1y (deh p 080 mp) on my last visit to nyc. i must say, i'm happy i made this choice. dont mean to offend any sony lovers, but sony is no match to a pioneer setup.

Hehe so I guess I'll be selling the Sony. (any takers??)
Any noticiable difference between the P1Y and P80 mp?

1 noticeable difference that i do know of is that 080-mp is digital radio ready. so i'm waiting for xm radio or world space radio car recievers and i'm all set to drive out of delhi without my bag load of cd's .

other differences might be there. why dont you check out pioneer singapore website(for info on p1y) http://www.pioneer.com.sg/
and the pioneer usa site( for info on 080-mp) http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...6_2128,00.html

cheers

At 10K the p1Y if in pristine condition is a good buy. at 15K there are nicer alternates. Our resident audio guru Sam had a P1Y in his eyeballer so maybe his views on this unit could prove more useful.

I liked the P1Y. It was a refreshing change from the usual flash form Pioneer carries.
The sound, though typically pioneer, offers user changes that are far more friendly than some of the earlier pioneer higher end models. I was impressed by the P1Y. I say go for it.

hi,,
i think u should go in for the p1y,,it sounds really better than the sony,,
it can be adjusted to 60x4, if want to drive some speaker from the head unit itself,
the only draw back in the pioneer p1y,, is that the cd sometimes get's stuck in it,, the loading mechanism of both p1y and 8650 are not all that good

Did not Sam or McLaren or some of the bangyboys find a solution to the stuck CD problem?

I never have had any stuck CDs in the P1Y!
I used to have a problem with the older "premier" HU in the eyeballer. I found the perfect solution. I threw the HU and got a P1Y. It worked perfectly!

Yes , but if sameerji can remember during the vahaan yatra we still had to struggle with the HU .. So all that we had to do was , press the eject button atleast a million times , ya lets not forget that one needs to hold the face plate down forcebly .. Then ??? Ya just remembered .. Think of all the swear words u possibly can and start cursing the HU aka sam ishtyle hoping that it would eject .. U guys wont believe it actually worked everytime.. I bet it had something to do with sam trying to stare at the dancing dolphins .. Have no clues what he tried to do to them , bcoz the HU seemed pretty adamant or maybe missed sam a lot ..
